Not very strange name for me. Could be Życka in polish :p

In eastern slavic languages you have an apostrophe which is a softener. E.g. L'viv

Check it out in wiki cause I'm not very good explainer. :p

Her name is not strange compared to Joke de Kok (Bel) who is playing in Tessenderlo ITF 25K this week!!!

As far as I know, the apostrophe is sometimes used in Cyrillic to Western transcriptions as replacement for 'ь', which is indeed a softener.

Maybe this means Brie's improving. Doesn't she usually not win a single set in Qualifying matches?

2009 is ironically turning into a great year for Brie. She was double-bageled in her first 3 matches of the year, but since then she's steadily improved and now she seems to be playing some of the best tennis of her life. She just recently won a match and now she's won a set in another match. So that's 3 sets she's won this year so far, and it's only the beginning of April. If she keeps this up I think she'll win a 2nd match this year, which will make this her most successful year ever. I'm so happy to see her doing so well lately :bounce::inlove:

Poor Marina, shame on her.
More than having a "'" in her name, she lost a set to Brie. :bigcry:
