LOS ANGELES "Fast & Furious" has left its competition in the dust with a $72.5 million opening weekend.

That is the best opening weekend so far this year, topping last weekend's $59.3 million debut for "Monsters vs. Aliens."

"Fast & Furious" also has raced to a record for April debuts, easily passing the previous best of $42.2 million set by "Anger Management" in 2003.

The fourth installment of "The Fast and the Furious" street-racing franchise brings back the four stars of the 2001 original Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster.

The reunion has paid off for distributor Universal, which also has pulled in $30.1 million in 32 other countries where "Fast & Furious" is playing.

There's. no decent movies anymore. These movies, are just a load of, old blah!

There's no, decent scripts, or storylines, even the actors are second rate.

It's all, car chases, and explosions, and zombies, and toilet humor!

When's, Ishtar2 coming out?

OMG why? I've only watched the first one and that was bad enough.

USA has some weird films that are successful. like the mall cop one :o

Saying that though the UK has some random films do well every now and again.

Expect this to run out of (Vin) Diesel and fall precipitously next weekend.

At least it looks entertaining (like the original) and not a bunch of orangutan crap like the sequels.

Jordana Brewster's presence doesn't hurt, either.

I cannot believe that movie made THAT much money this weekend, then again there wasn't much else to see. :o

I don't know why so many people went to see that movie. I can't make a judgment because I haven't seen it but it got terrible reviews and I thought the first one, which is the only one I've seen, was bad.

More people should have went to see Adventureland instead. I saw that movie today and it was actually really good.
