I am coming to Belgrade in July for World University Games and will be a diving judge :)
I am looking forward to it very much, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for accommodation? The diving competition venue is "The Republic Institute for Sports" located at Kneza Viseslava 72.
What hotels or hostel are nearby, and reasonably affordable?
Being in New Zealand, it's so expensive to travel, and difficult to organise - any thoughts would be super!
Thanks so much in advance :)

Wow!!I am not a Serb, but,it's great to see a diving judge posting here:)

My question is:won't the organizer supply or arrange these hotel or accommodation things?

Individual federations are expected to pay, but the hosts (Serbia) made some suggestions - a place called Hotel Park, but it seems already fully booked :(

I guess that it depends on how far you want to be from the centre.

This (http://www.villa-nevenka.com/images/mapa01.jpg) map gives you an idea of how far the venue is from the centre of Belgrade.

Here are some places that are close to the venue:
Hostel Salex (http://www.hostel-salex.co.rs/)

Villa Nevenka (http://www.villa-nevenka.com/index_e.html)

Orašac (http://book.visitserbia.org/tohotel.php?ID=569&L=EN)

Trim (http://www.tob.co.yu/eng/index.php?option=com_alberghi&task=detail&Itemid=497&id=46)

Belgrade is an amazing city, so enjoy your time there!

Unfortunately, I don't know much about Belgrade hostels, but I have a friend who's worked as a receptionist in several of them so I'll ask him and post all the info I find out.

I know some people who own hostels in the centre and another guy who works in one.

If you want to stay close to the centre, then I can recommend some places to you

this thread calls on "serbian people" to offer an advice, yet you posted here even though you are not serbian by nationality or heritage. you were once again exposed for a serbian wannabe :p

Martin is the only one who had any useful information the OP needed. I would think you're just kidding if I didn't know what a psycho you are.

Thanks to everyone for their help with this, particularly Epigone!
I will look at your suggestions when I get home from work tonight (just started for the day...) and I hope you won't mind if I PM you with some further questions!
Then, if you are in Belgrade when I arrive, i'll owe you a beer, or a wine!

I know that you and azdaja don't get on, but I've met azdaja and he's a pretty cool guy . However, he and I do disagree on the subject of a certain Serbian tennis player ;).i am not a psycho even though we may have our differences :p and martin knows what i mean, it was already confirmed on msn :lol:Yeah, it's an inside joke :lol:Thanks to everyone for their help with this, particularly Epigone!

Then, if you are in Belgrade when I arrive, i'll owe you a beer, or a wine!Feel free to PM me with questions and I'll try to help. Just be aware that I'm not from/in Serbia, so there's a limit to how much I know :p.

However, I know many people in Belgrade, so it shouldn't be a problem finding information.

we disagree about "at least" 2 serbian players :p and about "at least 100" songs  but that's a matter of taste. and of course i think that as an australian who visited belgrade you are in a good position to give advice to someone from new zealand planning to do the same :p
