Hello

Just curious if anyone from Japan knows how the carpet surface plays on their ITF circuit? I've googled some information, and the surface that seems to come up most is something called "Toray spuck turf." Toray is obviously the manufacturer, but aside from that, it's not much help. I'm curious if you know the following:

1) Are the women's ITF tournaments in Gifu, Fukuoka and Kurume played on this same Toray spuck turf surface, or is it a different surface? If so, what is the surface formally called?

2) How does this carpet surface play -- fast, slow? Is the bounce of the ball closer to a hardcourt/grasscourt speed or more like a clay court? How is the player movement -- can you stop and move, or do you have to slide a bit like clay?

I was told there is a "sand" substance on the carpet, but that's pretty non-descript. I'm hoping some local Japanese person or circuit expert could help me out on this.

Thank you in advance.

Interesting look....thank you very much for the photos. Definitely looks unique, that's for sure.

Still curious if anyone knows how they play......?

But how do they play, in terms of speed? Let's say you prefer fast hard and grass courts over clay, and you're looking at a slew of clay court tournaments or some tournaments on this surface, is there any difference? I was hopeful there was, but as I start to study a bit more, it seems this is more similar to clay in terms of movement, but what about ball speed?
