I took some photos at Saturday's match. Good to see a fair sized crowd out there to watch tennis. The match was 5 hours long with Jessica Nguyen ending it by winning her No. 3 Singles match after being down 3-5 in the 3rd set.

It was my first chance to attend a match this year and nice to see some of the new freshmen like Li, Hansen and Clayton.

More photos if you follow the link in my sig.

Stanford has 7 underclassmen

1. Hilary Barte - So.
2. Lindsay Burdette - Jr.
3. Carolyn McVeigh - So.
4. Veronica Li - Fr.
5. Courtney Clayton - Fr.
6. Jennifer Yen - So.
7. Logan Hansen - Fr.

Incoming 2 freshmen

1. Stacy Tan
2. Mallory Burdette

A school is only allowed 8 scholarships so 1 underclassman is losing a scholarship or transferring!

Urklerlay any ideas who that would be?
Maybe ask around if you get the chance.

I don't have any inside sources over there, but if I were to guess, it would be the local product, Jen Yen. She is the only one on the list that doesn't receive consistent playing time.

Couple of other random notes:

Logan Hansen plays w/ such intensity, it reminded me of another Stanford player, Teresa Logar. If anyone ever saw Logar play, you know she never liked to lose, and that included the coin toss.

I had to leave early, but was pleasantly surprised when I read that Veronica Li won her match. I only saw parts of the second set, which she lost, and she was getting destroyed by the Cal player at that time. Great comeback.

Not sure I ever had an all time fave Stanford player, but I do now: Hillary Barte. I've been attending matches for a long time now...7 or 8 years and have seen some truely great players come through: Amber Liu, Gabriela Lastra, Lauren Kalvaria and Alice Barnes. Hillary Barte is the most entertaining of all of them to watch. Her size is small yet she hits w/ explosiveness. She is animated on the court w/ her, "Come On!"s and she will skip back to the baseline after the breaks. Just a lot of fun to watch.

Hilary Barte is amazing! When she gets her forehand shot set up, it's hard to stop. I can see why her nickname is "The Flash". I was amazed by the amount of power she gets from her frame.
