View Full Version : Destiny is heading Davenport's way

If the draw holds true, Lindsay Davenport will face one of her two most difficult current nemisis, SERENA WILLIAMS, two matches from now.
SERENA is the current #1 player in the world and winner of two Grand Slam titles this year.

Lindsay has not beaten SERENA in two years and not only will go into that possible match with the weight of coming back from a lengthy time off, but as the designated Great Hope to stop the WILLIAMS since Hings' game is still weak and Capriati has not been able to do anything with either sister this year.

Davenport is in the best physical condition of her career and is back to smacking those flat, tank like shots of hers with her former power and accuracy along with her booming serve.

But, the biggest babe on the tour still has that one major Achilles heel and that is her foot quickness. Tennis is a game played on wheels and there may be no better wheels in tennis than SERENA'S, unless it is her housemate, VENUS, and the #1 player will not allow Lindsay to get set to take a precision blast to her side of the court.

SERENA has also added more variety to her game with better angled shots, slices and an improved second serve all that will give Lindsay fits and put pressure on her less than highly mobile game. Add to the previously mentioned pluses, better court strategy and the confidence of being the puppy in the pack.

The match should be quite interesting, if it occurs, but baring an injury or an act of god, SERENA should add another win over Davenport to their permanent records.

Clijsters defeated Venus at Hamburg. She could get past Capriati.

Where's Testud when the tour needs her? :D
