I couldn't wait any longer. LOL. This thread is for her American swing of tournaments.

Indian Wells/Miami/Ponte Vedra Beach/Charleston! :hearts: Oops, just forgot Memphis is in the USA, oh well.

She's in quallies for Indian Wells as of now, hopefully she'll get a MD WC. Maybe she'll even play some doubles. :speakles:

Expectations?

I don't know what to expect. If she has to play qualifying in IW and Miami, I'd expect her to qualify at both. Then, probably atleast 1 MD win in either of them. Then maybe a QF in either PVB or Charleston. I'm not getting my hopes up.

In one of those pictures at bolletieri's, one of my friends was in it.. I saw him today and after creaming his ass he told me about Jelena. He said that when everyone heard Jelena was playing, all the Juniors sprinted over to the court and watched her (Which is why they were all there) and they put JElena against three of the best coaches in the academy and they were all playing 100% and aggresive but even though she was on the defensive for most of the time, she just completely demolished them. Anyway, Jelena needs to play aggressive tennis against Jill and not make it into a war of consistency. Her ball striking and serving should be on point given that she's fresh from Nick Bollettieri's. Craybas went on to reach the fourth round, beating a minutely resurgent Nicole Vaidisova and Anabel Medina Garrigues. She then lost to Dinara Safina 7-5 6-4. That's hardly the level of an ITF player, let alone a 10k player.

To avoid playing anyone even slightly tough in the first round. She would only have to play two matches in qualies and I think it would help her regain some confidence a bit.

But hey, doesn't really matter what I say. She was given a MDWC so nothing will change now. I just hope she makes the most of it before she takes a break.

haha. agreed!!!

i saw wozniacki as the second round opponent and my first thought was 'wtf!!!'
oh well. let's wait for the first round to be over before thinking ahead.

but :P
i remember reading her say after her loss to Caro, something like: i know i've got the game to beat her and i know i can do it again' so lets hope that happens. she should be fired up for it.

on a side note: and this may be old news - but i just saw these comments Jelena made:
'I haven't been home (to Monte Carlo) since September,"
"I'm exhausted and don't know what to do on the court right now"
"I've had no rest for six months and I'm tired mentally."
"I've played only one event for my ranking since the Open," "I got the scheduling really wrong, and now I'm paying for it."

haha - at the scheduling thing :P atleast she knows it.
i hope she means 'exhausted' in the sense that two weeks off after the 1st round loss at IW will fix it.
but she doesn't seem to be in for a break after Miama where she can head home, with Point Vedra and Charleston.
i'm really guessing this is old news hear, but i typed all this, so i dont wanna delete it - so i was wondering what the consensus was on what she said?

cool. enjoy!

p.s. round 1 is winnable! (duh :P)

Jelena does better when the pressure is on her opponent...I'm sure she will feel less pressure now with those last two losses including the drubbing against Caroline, pressure back on Caroline and im sure this will work in Jelena's favour again.......

Does any Aussie know what time her match will be on? Approximately, of course. ;) Will it be during waking hours?

^ I have a feelin' she will stay in US and play Ponta Verde and Charleston.

Bad loss there, she had her chances. She was up 1-0 in the 3rd. We had a long break then ... and she completely lost it then :spit: Wondering what happened ?

Wozniacki was probably 'injured'. :rolls:

Anyway, this is not too bad of a loss. Considering their last match, I think we can all take some heart in that 2nd set scoreline. The fact that she kept fighting for it after losing the first set is great. :)

I hope she plays on the green clay. Because... I mean... she pushed one of the top players in the world to 3 sets today... and Ponte Vedra Beach is a smaller event... so I think she should play there.

I think Fed Cup is after Charleston. Aussia coach shouldnt invite Jelly to play since Switzerland is playing with completely unknown players.

Well, I reckon she should play PVB, Charleston, and Fed Cup THEN have a week off. It doesn't matter if she's a little bit tired for Fed Cup, it should be an easy win anyhow, but I think she has to get as much out of this US trip as possible.

Agreed.

And Jela really needs to be playing every Fed Cup tie she is invited to join the team for...

Translation of Wozniacki's blog after the match:

Today I didn't felt very good. Even before the fight, I had a bad feeling. I went into the fight and was a bit nervous. But managed to pull the first set home. Overall, I felt not right I could turn properly to the balls, because they would fly to me. However, it must be said that she did not play badly. She played aggressively and got me in heels. Today I only won because I had my heart in the right place and stage for each ball. But as they say over here, so Winning Ugly, it is also sometimes.

Jelena:hug: It seems she played pretty good though. Let's rock on the green clay!:)

I think Jelena could do quite well at Ponte Vedra Beach because it'll be a smaller tournament!

Also, Wozniacki is ranked #12 in the world at the moment so to win a set against her is good going;)!

That's my hope, too. Would love to see her in more International Series events and not so many Premier ones, just for now.

I guess we are being a bit impatient and greedy. I just wish she gets back to her old level before things went downhill i.e 2000-2002, and she was in the semis all the time hehe
