... of Mixed Doubles.

I tell you why. She already has the Grand Slam of womens' doubles in 1998. If she can get the GS in mixed doubles, she would become the only player (male or female) to win both the GS in doubles and mixed doubles. Quite a unique feat I'd say and really stamping herself as one of the greatest doubles players in history of tennis.

Now I'm not saying she should become a doubles specialist and give up on her singles. But 1 year is all it takes. She should fully concentrate on the mixed doubles slams.

I say this because she is one of the best doubles players out there and with any decent male doubles partner she can rack up the slams so easily on any surface.

She's played mixed doubles only once with (Gambill) in US Open 2000 and reached the quarters before pulling out.

This is a piece of tennis history she could easily have on her resume. If I was her I'd go for it. What do you think?

Martina has a lot of work to do first. A decent returner from the men's game would murder her serve right now.

She should play singles and Mixed next year and forget doubles for a year. It would also give her chance to return huge serves from the men which would help her singles game. :D

She could play with Mirnyi or someone like that.

I don't think Martina cares about mixed doubles, I am sure she prefers to win a tier 2 in singles than the calendar Grand Slam in mixed doubles.

Martina must play doubles (mixed or women's doubles). was a complete mistake to let out the doubles last year. Navratilova have recommended to martina to return to play doubles. The doubles is the best training for many shots as the volleys. Billie Jean King always recommends to play doubles to improve, too.
so in my opinion, Martina is doing the right thing playing doubles, Mixed doubles??? next year maybe, with Roger Federer, they proved already that they are a great duet!!!

I think the closest we can get to Martina playing mixed-doubles is at the Hopman cup. I remember back in 96 when martina played with rosset in the mixed against Goran and Majoli, it was mentioned that martina found a good way to return goran's huge serve...

luke, Martina and Roger won the Hopman cup for Switzerland in 2001. and in my opinion they played great the mixed doubles!

i have seen Martina returning Philippoussis serve quite well too. :D

Federer or Gambill, who would you want as a doubles partner? Last time Martina played Hopman Cup, Monica and Gambill beat her and Federer. Maybe she can return Philippoussis, but what's going to happen when she spins a 80mph first serve at a guy who used to Philippoussis, Krajicek, Ivanisevic, Roddick, Sampras, Miryni, Rusedski, Arthurs on a regular basis?

Fingon, a tier II or for that matter (another Australian Open title) is not going to get her into history books.

I'm saying she has a chance to enter history books here. Nobody else has done this before. I'm not asking whether she'll have success in it. But she should serious attempt to win it.

Guys, think about it. She'll be the only player to ever win the Grand Slam of Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

Somehow I don't think she's interested in it much either, otherwise she'd be playing more mixed doubles  Oh well

Maybe when she's in the latter stages of her career (and still playing well), but right now it's all about racking up ranking points.

It would be nice if she did, but I don't think it's gonna happen :(
