The entire top 10 has been promoted to play in Dubai this week. David Mercer just said in the presentation ceremony that "every one of the top 10 ladies in the world playing here in Dubai"

One name - NADIA PETROVA

However David Mercer also said that doubles was just as important as singles too, so maybe we shouldn't pay too much attention to what he says ;)

i guess its hard to see her as top 10 right now as she seems to have sneaked back in there and still isn't playing great tennis.

She's won 77% (49/64) of her matches from Eastbourne last year on including 2 titles and 2 runnerups. That seems pretty good to me.

Nadia doesnt count as a top 10 player cos she was ranked #11 at end of 2008

yes but not big titles, she won one of them whilst most other players were playing the olympics, shes been low profile, winning matches she should and a couple of smaller tournaments but not winning any big matches or big upsets.

But then they didn't have Sharapova, so the statement is still not correct...

Oh Nadia I forgot about her too:o.. It would be nice to see her do well in IW.

Oh sammy, you should really look at the girl in your avy before you even put the words "top 10" and "isn't playing great tennis" in the same sentence :p

It is

Sure it is ;)

rightfully so. she hasn't made an impact since 2006..

The fact is, she is #9 in the world. She at least deserves recognition for that! Open your mind :o
