I mean she is playing well, and we want to see a competitive final but can she do it against her next opponent - will she be able to bring her best tennis in such a big final?

She won against Venus in the Final of Japan open in 2007

Well she beat Venus in a final in their last match (saving mp I think) so why not ?

I think yes. Two wins over top 5 players in the same tournament, and a spanking in the semi, she'll be more confident than ever.

well you dont beat safina, hantuchova and zvonareva back to back if you're not a very good quality player.
She already won a finale against a williams(tokyo 2007 against venus), it will be tough but she proved this week that she can play amazingly well.

So yes.Totally.

and I just checked her h2h : she never faced Serena despite both being on tour for years now.
I just hope she'll play well.A win would be a great story but the sisters have been playing quite well so it'll be tough.

Well if Serena beats Venus - it's a VERY different Serena in the final, and the same for Venus! So Japan Open Final, fair enough use it to decide, but i don't think Vee will be as sloppy.

It will be competitive if either sister has a bad day or else they won't be too kind against Vivi especially Venus.

Venus should have won that, 3 MPs:smash:

Well its Venus's bi polar persona that pulls these stunts against the European girls :smash:

I'd say it is pretty unlikely Virginie will win, but I'm pretty optimistic that at least she is experienced enough, and smart enough and good enough to be able to make a real match of it. It will at least be a hell of a lot better than it would have been had Kanepi been the opponent.

God, they basically just gave Venus an ash-tray that day:lol:

Even Wimbledon give those ash trays out to their doubles finalists :o

Do they expect these players to display them proudly or something?

Well I think she can.
She's a real fighter, she's shown it throughout this week. But that will be a tough match and i hope Razzano won't give in to pressure.
Allez Virginie :bounce:

i think Virginie will take it to 3 sets but lose the final set to Serena, who, lets face it is the best mentally in finals..

I don't think we can under estimate her. Unless of course she self implodes in the final

Razzano is a good player and I think she's able to make one set competitive.

Not against Serena, Razzano better pray to God that she faces Vee in the final.

I think she CAN make it competitive, but she'll be facing:

Venus Williams trying to get her first title of the year, after a bad loss OR
Serena Williams and a trophy.

my money: either Williams.

Venus didn't even play that well.

That doesn't mean I expect Razzano to win, but if she holds her never I think she can be competitive :)

Miss Amor

Dont think so, Vee will win :p

Yes, she won their last meeting. However, I don't think she'll win it. She has never won a title nearly as big as this one so even if she has Venus on the ropes, I think she'll probably choke it away.

Based off the way she's been playing this week and Venus not playing as well right now, I'd be suprised if this wasn't competitive.

i think it could be competitive and she could even win.

MrSerenaWilliams
Feb 20th, 2009, 06:14 PM
yeah, she can, and I (hope) for the fan's sake that she will.

She beat Venus in the last match they played, so there's no reason to think she couldn't do it here.
