Anabel had a lot of trouble holding serve

Lena is going to have to serve a lot better if she's to threaten Venus. Not much penetration on first and those double faults seem to be more in evidence, 5 dfs in 19 2nd serves today, 5 in 28 yesterday.

AMG just couldn't hold serve often enough to compete. Even when she broke back to 3-4 in the 2nd set, it always seemed more likely that Lena would break straight back and she did.

Thought this could be a bit harder for her, but this was really clear :)
Although she isn´t in her best shape, which is clear after all these tournaments, it´s important for her to rest a bit after Dubai :)

This draw makes me want to vomit. There should be a rule prohibiting Lena and Vee from meeting before the finals.

Actually, there should be a rule that every final has to be between Lena and Vee. 10 slams my ass.

No matter whos is in her road until the R16 , the important thing is who are her rivals since QF until an eventual Final and this time she was not lucky at all , either was lucky in Australia with Venus and Serena in QF and semis

Nice win Lena.

Even if she loses to Venus I won't mind too much because at least she can rest. Knowing Dementieva she'll probably go to another MM tournament straight away.

Oh, well two weeks is a decent resting period from matches. It's not like she's injured or anything. She should be recharged in that time hopefully.

As it wasn't on the main court, I didn't think I'd get to see this match at all, but Eurosport showed the second set after the Serena match. I'm a big Elena fan, but she's looking tired. I think that Paris final took a lot out of her physically and emotionally. Venus made some errors today, but sadly I think she'll be too fresh and strong tomorrow. Elena DID look a little better than in her first match at times, but its a daunting task to defend her title. In all liklihood, she'll have to beat Venus then Serena - not something too many players do.

As defending champ, she was never going to pull out like Amelie, but with the draw being the way it is, she'll have to find some reserves to progress.

OMG yeah beacause AMG is sooooo easy to play.

Uh.. She practically is. A consistent 2r-3r GS player who plays smaller tournaments to get to the top 20. She's only beaten two top 10 players in over 5 years.

Yeah sounds like a real toughy to me:lol::help:

Dementieva did get an easy path to the Quarters:

Bammer: In a slump 1-4 to start season
AMG: Doesn't posses a real threatening game. (See above)

demska...YOU INSPIRED ME! in the future, should i make a thread title about serena/venus' victories, I will do the same and place their biggest accomplishments before their names..now i guess the only issue with that would be if enough room permitted me to do so...;)

Put her the toughest draw posible until R16 - QF and Elena will pass it anyways  . She needs "help" with her draws in Semis unless the rival is Venus in QF

Well I meant that in context to has been playing well lately not necessarily their ranking. Like Razzano, Errani, Vesnina, or even Vaidisova :tape::help: Haha jk. But I was serious about the other 3 :)
