Knew that was gonna happen, once Vera consolidated a break...Marion knew she had no chance. She has been struggling physically through her last two matches but me thinks this retirement is more mental.

Seems like there is nothing very serious... Just a very bad blister which was bleeding from what I've seen. Shame that she's giving up but on the other hand, she didn't have much time to rest after her first two marathons.

But this match just shows Marion is quite capable of outplaying Zvonareva. She started well, hitting winners and forcing errors, but she had numerous unforced errors and double faults on game/break points (could of been up 4-0) :smash:

Marion employed the same tactics that she used against Dzej Dzej - trying to hit every 2nd serve return for a winner.

It worked at the beginning when Bepa's serve was :help: (two double faults in a row to go down *0-30 in her opening service game :tape: ), but she couldn't keep it up.

Again, Bepa was too strong off the ground and kept moving the ball from side to side. Marion had to go for winners, but missed most of the time.

Bepa knew that if she could withstand the early onslaught and move Marion around, she would be able to take control of the match.

Hmm, im actually quite happy. I knew she was going to lose, but looking from the stats she had a real go at it. She won 25 points to Vers 31, and had 8 BPs. It looks like she win more then a few games next time they meet hopefully... :unsure:
