Did a bit of research. Kaitlyn Christian is a high school player from Orange, California. Class of 2010. Lifetime pro circuit record is 1-7 singles and doubles. Do they perform doping tests on these kind of tournaments? I don't mean to put my finger on that Christian girl, but the question just popped through my head, seeing a girl who couldn't win a regional high-school competition beating the likes of Gerasimou and Vandeweghe all of the sudden. Maybe she's just having the week of her life and is playing out of her head, but what if? Would it go by unnoticed?

I'm not completely sure what she could possibly take that would improve her performance that much. There isn't a 'tennis drug' that you take and all of a sudden you start hitting Henin backhands. Maybe she was ill or injured in that high school event.

Young players improve, sometimes by large amounts. Suggesting doping is a bit silly.

I'm not impying she did. I'm just pointing a hypotetical situation, saying "what if she did"? Would she get caught? Doping controls are a regular thing in the WTA and Grand Slams, but I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone getting tested on the ITF Women's Circuit.

Look, we are all just a little bit stunned that this no-name just beat Coco Vandeweghe, Maria Mokh, and Anna Gerasimou. I think that Tripp meant that this is so shocking and it's almost impossible if she didn't use steroids, coz if she did it's understandable.

:haha: Oh you guys! Kaitlyn is definitely not on steroids. She is a very strong USTA player, who hasn't had much experience elsewhere. She has game and she is probably on fire right now, perhaps this is just her big break. I highly doubt steroids.

I sat court side and watched Kaitlyn Christian's match against Anna earlier today. Anna just plain and simply got out played. Kaitlyn is planning on attending USC after high school from what I heard. Kaitlyn has speed and outstanding defense on her side. She has a real nice slice backhand that she mixes in and it is throwing off a lot of her opponents. I can't even count how many times her opponents hit the ball long or into the net after Kaitlyn hit a short slice over the net. She's playing really well right now. It's going to take an opponent with more experience and an overall bigger game to beat her. Someone not bothered by slice or long points. Oh and you guys are crazy if you think she's on steroids. She is quite athletic but c'mon. Kaitlyn is not from Surprise or near here - I think she is from Southern Cal.

Maka has been good this week! Julia should make the final with ease.

Yanina was given a point penalty and game penalty in her match today for 'coaching'. It is a problem apparently - she was warned early on in the match but didn't stop. Georgie is a real sweetie - hope she does well in Clearwater, FL and we hope to have her back here next year (unless she's ranked high enough to play Dubai).

Yanina is in the Doubles final too with Ahsha Rolle.

It's the first time I hear her having trouble with that ...

and so who was it that was coaching her? I thought her coach wasn't with her, only her dad. Never saw him coaching her during her matches though :(

It was a great match. Julia won the first set in a 7-0 tiebreaker and then Yanina fought back tough in the 2nd. Julia had a painful foot problem (new shoes that were rubbing her feet raw or something) and her feet were just hurting too much for her to continue. It was a great match even despite the retirement, though.
