Yeah, she matched her '08 ytd performance. You're right, the upcoming few months was her last year's peak period, so most of her points will go. But this is clay season, so I am quite optimistic. :) She may not climb up in the rankings until after Wimbledon, but seeing her improving form, I think she has her chances to defend those points - or at least most of them. If she'll do that, she'll have great chance to get back inside the TOP20 by the end of the year, because she has almost nothing to defend from the Olympics and from the entire autumn season.

The most important thing is to continue to improve her game, and find a good coach finally. (She and her manager said, that they are working on this 24/7, and want to find a coach by the end of april.)

She will move up to number thirty-one next week I'm pretty sure. She has enough to pass Stosur, who is thirty-one, but it's possible someone behind her will move up. Until the French Open, she has 145 points to defend. A pair of second rounds at the next two events would give her 140. A pair of third rounds would be 250. Unless she gets some brutal draws, I don't want to jinx her, but she should have a pretty good chance at being seeded at the French Open. Also, 33 or 34 is pretty likely to be a seed with players like Zvonareva, Srebotnik, Cornet, and Bammer all possible withdrawals. I just hope she can be seeded at the French Open and Wimbledon, after that, she really has no points to lose.

I doubt Vera is playing. I didn't even notice she is 30 :help:. I also think she will only fall to 33. She will lose 109 points, which puts her at 33 if no one else around there moves. Hopefully no one will....

So with this week's rankings I think she is number thirty-nine, but with her win today she is back up to thirty-five. I think she will need the quarterfinals to get back to top thirty-two though so unless Zvonareva and someone else withdraw I think a French Open seeding won't be happening.

Interesting that this year results doesn't seem to be considerably worse than in 2008 or 2009. Still her ranking is much lower than in earlier years. Which points are missing? 3rd and 4th rounds at Grand Slams and Premier events?

She made quarterfinal at Madrid and fourth round at French Open, Miami, and Indian Wells last year.

This year she started well but clay was shitty. Other than Budapest, she has absolutely nothing to defend though, so I doubt it can get much worse.

It can basically only get better this year. IF she can win Prague, I think it will go up about ten, but then she would need to have a really good result in Toronto also to get a US Open seeding. I definitely hope she can do it, but it is unlikely.

It's still unlikely she will be seeded at the Open though :( she has second round points to defend in Cincinnati and Toronto and is only playing Montreal. She would have to make the quarterfinals at least I think, and even though she's playing well, she barely made the main draw there, so that is not likely.

Probably she didn't enjoy the American tournaments much last year. She has played Montreal just about every year though and probably has good memories in New Haven, so she just wanted to play those. Then she could play Copenhagen or Istanbul I guess, but they're kind of random and she doesn't really like playing Internationals. I just don't want her playing qualifying :o unnecessary way to get tired, especially if she's playing two tournaments right before the Open we don't want her to get all tired then.

I'm getting to be used to Ági is around 30th rank. I can imagine that she will be in the next years in the 20th - 40th range. I think too many bad form periods and injuries to be better than this and she is too good to slide lower than 40th for a longer period.

I think she really should be top twenty :o and hopefully higher!

I'm going to USO Qualies this week and I had a dream last night that I saw her at the practice courts and she was preparing for the MD and then I woke up :tears:

I don't know how to check, but somewhere around forty, because that's what it was at the French when she stopped playing. So high enough to enter most tournaments :). She better be smart enough to play smaller ones though :tape:. And if she's lucky she can get a few wild cards to save her PR for some other tournaments, but I wouldn't count on it. I'm not exactly sure of the rules, but I think she can only use the PR at the AO because she hasn't been out for that long. So she will need to hope the ranking has been raised high enough for direct entry at the French.

^Well I'm sure they will give her a QWC at the French Open if she needs one ;)

I HIGHLY doubt she will need a qualifying wild card. It won't get that bad. But anyway, the French are stingy, I doubt they'd give it to her.
