God, going on this forum is like a lesson of foreign languages. I must have spelt a name wrong
Anne needs to start winning these matches! This isn't impossible so i expect a tight match if she has really improved and wants to be in the top 50!
She can do it :D

Anne Keothavong says she was happy with her first outing of 2009 after moving into the second round of the ASB Classic in Auckland on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Londoner enjoyed a straight-sets victory over Croatian wild card Mirjana Lucic in the her opening match of the new year and is rewarded with a contest against world No.46 and eighth seed Carla Suarez-Navarro on Wednesday.
“It’s great to get 2009 off with a win,” Anne said.
“You can’t expect to play your best tennis after a bit of a break and Mirjana made it a tough match to get into as she just whacked everything and didn’t give me much rhythm.
“I was a little bit nervous at the start but once I settled down then I started moving better and was able to free up and play. It was good to be out on Centre Court and I had some great support which is always nice.
“Suarez Navarro is up next – we’ve never played against one another but I’ve seen her play a bit and I just need to focus on myself rather than what she can or can’t do.
“I need to serve a lot better tomorrow and be my own best friend out there to give myself the best chance to win.”
Keothavong and Suarez Navarro are the second match on court 6 after a 12.30pm start local time.

This is the kind of match she should be winning. Anne in straights if she plays like we know she can :)

I think the slower hard court in Auckland is going to reward Suarez-Navaro more than Keothavong. Carla hits with a good deal of topspin, and Anne's not quite tall enough to handle shoulder-height shots, and doesn't have quite the game to take the ball early. I'd expect it to be decided on Keothavong's racquet, but she'll end up hitting more errors than she'd like. Suarez-Navarro in three.

I really do hope both these players do well this season. They're both a reminder that nice players can make good. They've got such pleasant personalities! Keothavong in particular strikes me as a very relaxed young woman.

The beatdown that Carla gave Natalie in round 1 was worrying. I really didn't expect that. So it's hard to predict how ths match will go. I hope Anne can pull off a straights sets win, that would be amazing, but I'm not too confident at the minute.

Anne in 2 tight sets :bounce:

I'm hoping Carla's first round result was a one-off. Anne in 3.
