A match with ups and downs.. Horrible first. Good 2nd and then a 3-0 and 4-1 lead in the third for Misa. Followed by choke-a-roo. :o

First serve of 48%, and converted only 4 out of 14 breakpoints :smash:

She made 1 point more than Ayumi but still lost.

Good luck in MD Morita, maybe Misa can get in as a LL.

 Misa - she was only up 1 break, so I don't think it's such a bad choke. I mean it was 4-4 still so it's not like she was serving for the match 2ce and still couldn't do it or something.

She's just not at her level yet, but she seems to be getting there slowly.

Honestly, I hope she does NOT get a LL spot (is there even one)? Because then she has to win a match in MD to get any points, and i think that will be tough. At least this way she gets 10 points and is top 200 again. :p

lmao where have you been? She's been out of top 200 since like Wimby, and had 2 bad injuries last year. But now she's not when the rankings come out next week she'll be about 190. :p

I've seen Morita play once on tv, so I'm thinking right now how could she have lost let alone lose a set against her? Good job for Ayumi though! Misa ugh..

Ayumi is ranked in the top 100 now and it's not like misa is playing her best tennis, so  Just coz you saw her play once on tv doesn't proove anything.

No matter how you cut it that is impressive. Morita fans should take great pride in the way she has played this week.

And you can hardly call giving up one break a choke :weirdo: Overused term.

Definitely. She's become a real fighter lately, which definitely wasn't the case most of last year.

Dutch media are reporting that Misa injured her left ankle at 4-2 in the third set. It's yet unknown if she'll be able to play doubles.

DutchieGirl
Jan 5th, 2009, 09:25 AM
She finished the match, so it can;t be that bad, and I hope they won't use that as an excuse. If she doesn't play doubles then it would more likely be a precaution, coz if you roll your ankle it can be ok at the time, but once you cool down then it does ache for some days - I have weak ankles and roll them often, and I have the same thing.

Thats a crazy good winning streak, but bad luck for Misa she should have gotten a wild card :(

Looking forward to seeing Morita play, she seemed to be a promising player a couple of years ago and is finally moving up.

Also looks like misa has pulled out of doubles becaue oop tomorrow has borwell/muller-domachowska/nakamura. I assume it's just a precaution for AO.

Apparently AO qualies are in doubt. She'll get a scan done on the ankle tomorrow. On Dutch ceefax/teletext it's reported she has to rest for a week.

Even if she gets a LL spot and loses in 1st round she'll have these 10 points for QR :p

Oh OK I was thinking they only got MD points even if they lost. But seeing as she's injured she wouldn't be able to take the spot anyway. :p
