View Full Version : Anna at the US Open

Aug 27th, 2002, 09:55 AM
Anna will play her first round match today, at 11 AM on court 15, againgt Marie Gaianneh Mikaelian. I'm guessing that this isn't a show court, and there are higher seeds playing them awayway, so it won't be on TV here. So if anyone sees the match, can you post the final score here? Thanks.
Oh, and Okun match is the second match on court 17, after a women's singles match.
Good luck Anna & Noam! :bounce:

I don't think I'm gonna get live coverage too so I hope someone can post it here. :D

Aug 27th, 2002, 12:15 PM
No TV cameras on that court :o
We will just have to use the Live Scoring from the US Open site...

Aug 27th, 2002, 01:22 PM
I think I'll just have to wait for that stupid "Sports News" at 11 PM, or for the eurosport comantetors to say the score, cuz I think I won't be able to follow the live scoring. :fiery:

Aug 27th, 2002, 03:33 PM
Starts in 25 mins so I plan to watch live scoring. Hope not a 3-setter and of course, Anna wins!!! :D

'Maybe' we will get 'bleeps' of her match here.

Good luck to Anna and Okun!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Order of play today for Anna and all the other Israelis today at the US Open:

Armstrong stadium: Lleyton Hewitt (AUS) (1) vs. Noam Okun- 11 AM

Court 7: Anna Smashnova (17) vs. Amanda Cutzer (RSA ) - 4th and last match on that court

Court 13: Harel Levy vs. Ramon Delgado (PAR)- 2nd match on that court (after a men's doubles match)

Whay did Okun have to get Hewitt?! :fiery:

Aug 29th, 2002, 11:49 AM
This will be a graet experience for Noam. You are forgeting that this is the same Noam Okun who dragged Mark Philippoussis to 5 sets. Besides, we can probably watch the match.

Good luck Anna!! get that revenge!! :D

I hope Harel plays to the level of 2 years ago.

Noam will definitely get a lot of experience!

Aug 29th, 2002, 05:51 PM
pffff at the rain delay....
If Anna is the 4th match on her court, will she even have the time to play today?
I so looked forward to seeing the Okun/Hewitt and the Carpiati and Agassi matches. If play wasn't suspended, they would have probably showen Okun's match (after Capriati's).
btw nimi, I thought that Okun lost to Mark P at the Aussi Open in four sets (in that match where his cell phone rang in the middle of the match...).
They interviewd Arazi on eurosport and he said that Hewitt will surely win against Noam.

Aug 29th, 2002, 10:38 PM
Watching Noam play Hewitt. Noam is cute. He is playing great too....has Lleyton running all over IMO. Has a BIG serve. Serving for first set. :)

Hope Anna can get a *decent* hour to play *tonight*. If not, she may get a decent hour tomorrow. :D

Anna

When play finally started, at 11 PM here in Israel, I got to see Okun's match right after Capriati's match ended. Okun played so well, the last time I saw him (They showed his match at Wimby too, but I didn't watch it) was a year ago at a five hour Davis Cup match he won, in five sets, against South Africa. He played so bad then, he has realy improved. He had a lot of amazing winners, but I still can't believe that he lost the first set.

Aug 30th, 2002, 12:58 PM
He did improve didnt he?
Ya they showed his match against Morrison. I think his goal (or at least what i hope) is that he will get into the Aus Open with DA, & will not have to play qualifying.

Aug 30th, 2002, 01:46 PM
Noam was already ranked as high as 97 this year, and didn't need to qualify for Wimby... If he continues to play like he played against Lleyton, he will surely improve his ranking.
But he needs to play more, he hardly plays all year.
