how would one get from san francisco to the tourney? my family is thinking of going to San francisco, maybe we'll see the semis or final.

nvm i would take BART to Millbrae and then Caltrain to Palo Alto, or i could just take Caltrain the entire way, but for some reason people suggest the 1st option. I'm so exicted I'll get to see the Semis and Final.

As of today, that is last year's players list.

this tournament always starts out with great early entries, but when the draw comes out, it is usually pretty bland. Maybe that won't happen this year as it's been pushed back a few weeks, giving players more time to recover from wimbledon :)

srodgers is referring to the "within" column in the alt list, after "priority." Most players are blank in that column, but some, like Bremond, have a "3" in that column, and some have a "4."

I have a question.. Nicole entered Q with around #60 rank.. and now when she falls to #140, does she stay in Q but will move to the last spot three weeks before the tournament? but will she still be allowed to play Q or she will fall into ALT?

I'm not sure what you mean, but the Q list is made with whatever the rankings are when it is released. So if it is made after Vaidisova is ranked 140 she probably won't be in it.
