The pride of Russia at the Olympics lies in the hands of Nastya Myskina as she is the last of 4 Russians in the tennis draw. Nastya cruised past Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada and Anne Keothavong of Great Britain to make it to the Quarterfinals of the ATC Olympics.
Nastya took down Wozniak 7-6(5) 6-2 with Nastya's backhand thrilling the crowd with amazing winners. In the second round, Nastya defeated Keothavong 6-4 6-4 as Nastya showed off her all court game, with great defense that she turned into offensive.
Alina Jidkova, Maria Sharapova and Maria Kirilenko, the other 3 Russians, all faultered under the pressure of playing for their country.
"It's sad to see Alina lose, she has a lot of talent, but Britney was In The Zone (:o)."
"I know that Russia loves me more than the other big mouth trash talking Russian, Maria Kirilenko, who said she tanked while representing her country. I have a slam, something she can't say, yet she acts as if she is the top Russian. No matter the ranking I will be the top Russian, maybe Alina is, but Maria sure as hell ain't it. She has won some Mickey Mouse Events, but my one title was a slam and whether or not you say it's a fluke it out weighs whatever Maria has done in her whole useless ATC career."
Nastya plays nemesis Kim Clijsters in the QF.

Rio de Janeiro, BRA -- In what is turning out to be one of the best weeks of her career, Lindsay Davenport held off the strong challenge of Samantha Stosur to edge her way into the final of this season's Olympic Games. Davenport, who experienced a stunning loss in the first round of Wimbledon to grass-no-hoper Jelena Jankovic, has been in imperious form this week, which she accredits to her laidback attitude.
'For Wimbledon, I got really worked up because I was so desperate to do well at my favourite Slam, on my best surface,' explained the American. 'I was simply a bag of nerves on the court that day...I mean, I just imploded as she kept making me play one more ball. It was undoubtedly the most frustrating match of my career. But here, the pressure's off, and the playing field's level so I go into every match knowing I have a very realistic chance to win. To win this tournament would be special; everyone has the same tools to work with, as it were, so it purely comes down to skill.'
Davenport will face Flavia Pennetta in the final, who has proved to be a force to be reckoned with during her short spell on the tour. The Italian won Wimbledon, and currently only has one defeat to her name...but Lindsay is not especially impressed with what she's seen.
'Obviously she's done extremely well, you know, going on this run, but her game is not pretty at all; she makes the most of her [limited] strengths and it's a little irritating to see players become overwhelmed by that. Hopefully this comment won't come back to bite me but I'd like to show the rest how it's done.'
'As a side note, I'd like to thank Ms Kirilenko for her support this week; if I am victorious, I might throw a dollar or two away on a gift to show my gratitude.'
