Welcome to Doha, Qatar! 2008 has reached its climax - the Year Ending Championships! 16 best players of the season will be battling for the prestigious title for the first time on the Arabian soil. Among the field is Australian Open champion Elena Dementieva who is fighting to stay at the very top of the rankings for the second straight year. She will face a tough challenge in the US Open champion Jelena Janković, who won The Race to the Year Ending Championships this year. 3 players fight for the place on the lowest step of the podium, namely the winner of 7 tournaments - PYW's gladiator Flavia Pennetta, Roland Garros champion Agnieszka Radwańska and the Australian Open & Wimbledon runner-up Daniela Hantuchova. Wimbledon's champion Nathalie Dechy is also present. As has been the case in many previous tournaments the title might go into the hands of one of the dangerous dark horses.
