I guess many players think St Denis is in Europe again and there will be many withdrawals.

Last year there was't any qualifying draw and any 1st seed.

The players ranked around 120 might actually come though because they see easy points to make the AO main draw. Hopefully the tournament does have a stronger field then last year, it's so cool to see tournaments in far-off places.

yeah plus this year there's also another tournament in Mauritius which is not far so some will probably play both. I know for sure Hendler will attend the two events lol

 I thought that this tournament was the same week as Opole but it is the week after..

So withdrawal deadline has not past yet.. so the EL will be much weaker than this yes. ;)

I already wondered why the freak so many people would go here.

Last year they had to fill up the draw with some local players. One of them even reached the QF, the one who replaced the 1st seed and had a bye.

May I ask what happened or is it personal? :)
Well there were articles about it in NL, so I assume it's not personal.

In 2005 in May-ish time (maybe June), she was walking through the park near the training centre in Almere and she went under an underpass and had her ipod (or discman whatever) on and 2 Maroccan guys attacked her - held a knife to her face and told her they were gonna kill her. Lucky there was some noise like someone else coming so the guys legged it. But very traumatic experience for her. She had to play Eredivisie (club matches in NL) a couple of days later, and she played against Misa and lost I think like 0 and 1 or something and she said all she could think about was their eyes looking at her. Seems like she's recovered now though, thankfully. She did keep playing some more after that until KNLTB forgot to enter her into USO quallies, and then she retired. I'm so glad she came back though! She seems really sweet - but I've only had a short convo with her in Traralgon last year.

Top players must have made MD through withdrawal of others. Lists are done on the rakings 3 weeks before the tourney, while seedings are done on the rankings the week before the tourney - which is why Giorgi is now a higher seed than de Beer. :)

I just checked and it'd be 234 at best, and AO cut can be around 230...so it wouldn't be sure she'd make it, besides, it's highly unlikely she's gonna win the whole tourney here so... ;)

Just had a look at my draws from the French junior Nationals, which I watched for a weekend at Roland Garros in mid-August. The only girls (across two 48 draws) listed as from Reunion (well I presume that's what REU stands for!) are:
15/16s (the winner of which, incidentally was Amandine Hesse, who plays in this tournament):
Diane Trebalag
17/18s:
Laura Babet (Chloe's sister?)
Chloe Babet is listed as from SSD. Don't know which region that is (Strasbourg?), but maybe Chloe Babet's moved from Reunion to a different training centre.

it's weird anyway that some players are listed as REU since it's a French region ... pretty cool though ;)

I don't think a loss against Chlo Babet is a bad loss especially for Bibi.
Chlo Babet has been one of most important french hopes for several years ! She didn't play many tournaments this year and never played in junior but I think this Reunian girl could be Top 300 at least next year.

She trained at Bolletieri Academy, with FFT and she's training at Mouratoglou Academy now.

btw: just read the latest blog of Irena (http://www.tennis.gdfsuez.com/article_278544_Blog_d-Irena_Pavlovic__Une_journee_pas_tres_glamour_.html ):

unfortunately she had a food poisoning on Monday and of course it would be now not easy for her to recover fully until Tuesday 14.00 when her single match will be played...

As she writes at the end:
...
I feel better tonight, I hope not to relapse tonight. My single match is scheduled at 14:00 tomorrow and I also my doubles in the afternoon (my partner is Kelly Andersson). A big day waiting for me and I'll need a lot of courage. I will try to give everything I will do my best and hope that it will be better tomorrow! Nothing very funny nor glamorous to tell today but that's life, there are days like this ...

Kisses to all and good night!

I just ment you should finally accept a player, or your fav, lost in a certain round and stop suggesting dutch players would have bad draws, which is not the case. I think it's pittyful if you're still whining about a R1-loss while the semies are on, and disgraceful to suggest she could have made it to the semies. Besides, she wasn't playing the #1 seed in R1, that's the whole point.

Congrats Patricia, with your trophy!! :bounce:

I was not whining anywhere. Neither did I say Bibi had a bad draw.

Gosh I hadn't had a look at this thread after Bibi had lost and I didn't get all the excitement here?
But yeah, Bibi could have won this tournament easily if she wouldn't have had such a extreme tough draw like she always has... In fact, if she were a bit more lucky in her draws, she would be top 30 by now...
You have just been reading a comment of someone whining over draws. Which was completely different than Andiyan's original comment. Bibi could have made the semis if the draw would have been different.
(yes I'm Dutch as well)

I'm not but I agree - they were harsh towards Frank (Andiyan) for no obvious reason. It's not like he complains every week that Bibi gets a bad draw or something like that.

:weirdo: She's not. She's 418 and she's been injured for a while prior to this year and hasn't really played THAT much this year. And if you look at her year end ranking for the previous 3 years, you'll see she's improved her ranking by about 400 places this year. Please be informed before you say a "throw away" line about a player.
