Marta won't play in Krakow because she wants to be 300% fit for 2009. Don't worry - Marta will practice serve with her mother in November and December. Also she will practise with Korzonek - special moves and position in the night becuase she doesn't want to lose a match in 2009 in the night session.

She lost to Sharapova in Canada because she didn't have practice with Korzonek, after Beijing she would beat Maria.

Adrian you will see in 2009 her lungs will be bigger and bigger

Now that a lot of players withdrew, who do you want to get a WC?

WC for polish players in my opinion: Piter (100%) and Brózda. But would be nice if Zania and Kania got them.

I'd like to see Emma Laine and Andrea Petkovic here in Krakow as well. Maybe Anne Kremer too (it's probably one of the last opportunities to see her playing).

I think I'll be in Krakow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ( at last matches).

From the players who are on the entry list (because I'd like some players who are not on the entry list to get a WC, but it doesn't seem very likely ;)) I wish the WC will be given to:

MD: Piter, Korzeniak, Gawlik (or Ula if she doesn't get in the MD directly)
Q: hard to choose, maybe Kania, Zaniewska, Jegiółka (or maybe Jans or Aleksandra Rosolska )

Lucky you people who will attend this event, I wish I would be there too  I will have to wait for the WTA tournament next year.

I doubt it has a special meaning

And what does the symbol of dollar next to the name of the player mean?
"What does the $ mean in front of a players name?"
4 $ BYCHKOVA, Ekaterina RUS 72 1
It means, that this player has to pay a fine because of rule violations. A rule violation could be withdrawing late, verbal abuse, ball abuse etc. For verbal abuse a player usually will have to pay 100€ to the ITF. If one gets over a certain amound of money there will be $$ in front of her name. In 2007 there will be a new rule that says that if a player has more than 500€ to pay she cannot enter an ITF tournament before she hasnt paid her bills. The $ will be removed if all the money has been paid.

Salwator Cup: tenis powraca do Krakowa

Turniej o miano najlepszej tenisistki świata pokrzyżował wielkie plany organizatorów, którzy chcieli, by gwiazdą imprezy została Agnieszka Radwańska.

Iceland
Oct 30th, 2008, 06:36 PM
For an ITF standard, yes, of course. Former top 30 player who has a WTA title, pretty good, I would say.
Having said that, tennis is so discreet in Poland that I doubt that people attending the tournament will have a clue on who she is. They might prefer cheering blindly for a Pole after all.

3 Poles in MD clearly are not enough I agree but for the show, it's better to have Dulko than Cieplucha or Jegiolska who wouldn't win more than 3 games at such a level. Shame on Marta to not compete here.

News from salwatorcup.pl (translated by me):

Something to Guiness Record Book

This match will become a history of krakowian Salwator Cup. Paula Kania was struggling in match with Yulia Veleeva for 3 hours and 35 minutes. Finally bulgarian tennis player occured better.

Pole in each three sets broke her opponent, but she managed to win only the second one. With sadness she was answering, what she lacked of to win. - I can't finish won matches. It's all in my head. There's a bigger chance to win a match when I'm loosing 1:4 than when I'm leading 4:1 - told Paula Kania.

Above 3 hour and a half clash finished with win of Bulgarian 7:6(4), 4:6, 7:5 - Was it the longest match in my career? I don't know myself - racked her brains Kania.

- I lost also because of not having a traning for two last weeks, but I came to try. I though myself: "maybe I will do it". Unfortunately I didn't - added Paula.

Korzeniak: I'm an optimist

Salwator Cup is a special tournament for Anna Korzeniak. Krakowian, who got WC, will play in her family town. 20-year old tennis players won't recall this season well, so that she is counting on a good performance in Krakow.

- How am I to be satisfied of my worst year in career? - asks Korzeniak
- On winter I had some health problems and I couldn't play as much as I wanted - I'm however an optimist and I think that next year I will play much better.

Salwator Cup is to be the turning-point for Korzeniak, who is already thinking about the next season. What are her aims? - I'd like to finish the next year on 150# rank. But I don't know if I'll manage to.

What are the complete guidelines for receiving a special exempt? I thought it was that if you were in the final of the tournament and on the Q list for a tournament of the same prize money stature or lower the following week, you were given the SE status but Krakow is obviously a much higher tier than Nantes so what gives?

"Whole tournament" starting on Monday. You gonna be there too?

:secret: surely gonna avoid me once again

I'll be there on next Friday, Suturday and Sunday but I don't promise for 100%.

And now I have a loader to my mobile.

week
- For $25,000 tournaments: the singles event of any ITF Women’s Circuit
tournament with prize money of $25,000 or higher or any WTA Tour

Not really. I haven't seen all matches, but IMO the best match of the day was Stanciute-Pastikova
Also Ruutel played good tennis, big serve+big fh. Nice baseliner. Anderson played some serve&volleys. Her net play is good, but is not regular from baseline.

The surface is shitty IMO :) They put some mats on the 'real surface'(which is carpet). If you play agressive volley, the ball will hardly bounce after it. There is a funny sound when ball touches the court - like it would touch sth empty inside.

Girls will play Q and 1st round of Doubles here.
Hope MD courts will be much better.

I heard that Rus will play also doubles.
If you have any questions, just ask :)

Salwator Cup: klęska Polek w eliminacjach

Bez zapowiadanych Severine Bremond i Giseli Dulko zacznie się w poniedziałek turniej główny krakowskiego challengera Salwator Cup (pula nagród 100 tys. dolarów + H).

Chciała spróbować swoich sił w Krakowie, dostała "dziką kartę" i przeżyła wielkie rozczarowanie.

Znamy 26 zawodniczek turnieju głównego. W weekendowych eliminacjach zostaną wyłonione kolejne cztery. Poza nimi w drabince turniejowej znajdą się dwie tzw. special exempts, spoza listy startowej. Prawdopodobnie będą to Stefanie Voegele (Szwajcaria, 144 WTA) i Wesna Manasjewa (Rosja, 155 WTA), finalistki turnieju w Nantes.

Katarzyna Piter i Olga Brózda to dwie kolejne Polki startujące w pierwszej rundzie krakowskiego challangera dzięki takim specjalnym przepustkom.

Pewnie do drugiej fazy kwalifikacji awansowały faworytki: Białorusinka Pouczek, Słowaczka Wienerova i Bośnianka Jugić-Salkić.
