Those events in Istanbul used to throw away (or sell) one of their WC to Russian or Ukranian players

I dislike this draw :sobbing: It's not hard to predict the winners of R1 matches except Ozga vs. Khomyk. :( Cagla Urcu is the best Turkish in the draw and she got Petkovic  At least there will be some interesting matches in R2 like Glushko vs. Damaschin.

I don't have the OOP yet.If their matches are not so early, i will go there to watch Petkovic and Piter.

Didnt she say her goal is to gain enough points to get directly in AO main draw. She seems good enough to win all these 25k`s and by winning 2 or 3 tournaments like this, she can really get there:shrug:

Would probably give the edge to Simona... Patricia must be tired from last two weeks and traveling. If she hasn't left for Istanbul yet it might be a good idea to pull out and rest for a week. She shouldn't even be playing these 25ks anyway.

* P.Mayr got Halep  I like Patricia but her scheduling drives me crazy too. I will cheer for Simona.

* Ipek Senoglu vs. Cagla Buyukakcay. Cagla needs it more but it would be amazing if Ipek could make a run in singles as well.

* Gehrlein vs. Mircic is an early meeting. :( They both don't deserve to lose in R1.

Hi Everyone. I was in TED club today. The atmosphere was great. The draw is weaker than last year but all main draw matches were entertaining enough for me. Let’s take a look who did what today?

Qualy Matches

Majeric def. Orlova 7-5 6-2

Ok now this was the greatest match of the day for me. It lasted something like 2 hours and 30 minutes and i have to tell that both girls definitely deserve to be in top200 at least. If they keep playing like they did today i'm sure they will climb up the rankings.

There haven't been any breaks in the first 6 games. All the games went to deuce and both players saved break points.Natalia was the first one who showed some signs of exhaustion at the eight game and couldn't give a response to Tadeja's amazing forehands and shot selection. Natalia lost her momentum and started to teach us some Russian insults but she was still able to hold her serve when she finally realized that Tadeja's backhand can be forced to make an error. At 5-4 Majeric served for the set and had 3 three set points but wasted all of them by making 2 DFs and a backhand error which also affected the Great Princess Guskova's game on the other court. We'll come to that one later  Anyway Natalia broke back with two "Ivanovic moments" in a row. Don't worry she's not fisting her pump. The net helped her  Tadeja got mad but didn't let Natalia get the lead and broke her serve. Natalia is a great player on the baseline but someone has to tell her that she really needs to work on her net-play and drive-volleys especially. I didn't make statistics but she hardly won a point at the net. Tadeja saw that weakness of her and started to attack with tremendous drop shots and it brought her the first set. 7-5.

Natalia took a medical timeout and then a toilet break after losing the first set. Tadeja got mad and discussed with the referee. She was right because Natalia seemed like a drama-queen and hasn't got any warning after coming back late to the court. It was Tadeja who lost the momentum this time and Natalia won 8 points in a row and led 2-0. Then i saw the moment of the day. Tadeja tried to regain her concentration by closing her eyes and her ears with her hands ( because Guskova was miawoming on court 3 :help: )when she went to her seat to change her racquet. That 10 seconds made her someone else and she dominated the match and won 6 straight games to win the match 7-5 6-2.

There were some breathtaking rallies in this match. Watch out for these girls. They have some talent to show in higher level tournaments.

Oh and Tadeja's serve motion is the cutest in the world :hearts:

Schaefer next. Upset her Tadeja :hearts:

Ozga def. The Most Important Junior Princess of Russian Tennis Nadejda Guskova!! 6-0 7-5

I was soooooo disappointed after this. Justine isn't even a duchess. How dare she wins this match?!?! What a shame for her!! There were a bunch of pimples on our princess' pale skin after the match. Justine you are sooo jealous of our Princess' pale skin don't you? Pale skinned Pink royal family will punish you soon!

HA-HA-HA. It was an error fest from the Princess in the first set. I was following Tadeja's match at the same time but i know Justine was destroying her. It didn't last more than 20 minutes. The real sad part of the score is that Justine is not an impressive player. I can't see her doing well in WTA and higher level ITF tournaments. Princess forehands are actually good but she doesn't know how to hit a winner with it and she's moonballing if the ball comes to her backhand. Her unexperiency can be seen on her footwork capacity. Looks like Princess' governess didn't teach her anything about moralistic values otherwise she wouldn't shout at Tadeja when Tadeja's backhand fell into the court during the game. And somebody please teach our Princess how to grunt. She's miaowing and she will be the next Vera Z. in terms of having tantrums. I felt REALLY sad for her when she lost the second set that she led 5-1 for a couple of minutes...(!)

Piter def. Mladenova 61 60

Can someone tell me who has the worst serve in womens tennis? I can already hear some answers like Pin,Kapros,Antonella Serra Zanetti... Please guys don't call them bad servers because most of you haven't seen Dessislava's serve yet. My eyes My eyes My eyes!..

I will be surprised if Katarzyna can't reach top 50 one day. She's playing great! But it is obvious that this is not the surface that she is used to play on. She sometimes try to slide too much and she almost injured herself today because of that. She's not an hard hitter but it's understandable because she's a junior player and not that fit like older players. Dessislava has a defensive game style and hardly makes an error but her shot selection is really poor. She just sent the ball back to Katarzyna and has been punished by rocket groundstrokes. I was waiting a more aggressive and offensive match from a lefty like her.

Roesch is next for Katarzyna. I've seen Angelika while she was training and she looks really concentrated and fit. Should be an entertaining match.

Evtimova def. Zafirova 62 64

Humm. I have to choose my words carefully for this because i had enough badreps. :tape:

I can say Dia didn't win this match.Dalia lost it. I was following Piter-Mladenova and this court was far away from me but i could see Dalia was sending all her shots to the net. She's hitting the ball with too much spin and it makes her disadvantageous mostly. I have to shut up now.

Main Draw matches

Segnini def. Shamayko 63 64

First of all Marina is an hottie :hearts::lol But being hot is never enough to stop to lose for the eight time in a row.

I call her "Chokella" from now on :p because she was up 3-0 in both sets. Can you read the score again now please?!? She has an amazing serve and she has hit 3 aces in one game in the second set.
Technically she's double time better than Vivian. She hits drops shots and BH slices sometimes but she's such an inconsistent player. I thought Vivian was one of those Latin American players whom always gather points in weak tourneys of their continent but she made me change my mind a little bit today. She moves really fast. Her first serve percentage was probably something like %90 but it's not an advantage for her because there is no difference between her first and second serve. They both suck eventually :p I almost started to think about shouting at Marina and say "Make some service returns babe!" Whatever. Vivian's shots are not high quality but she looks like she knows what to do when. She won't have any chance against the winner of Schaefer/Majeric though.

Gehrlein def. Mircic 60 76(8)

Stephanie is officially one my favourite players 2008. When her weapons are on she's unstoppable like in the first set of her match against Teodora today. She won the 4 games of the set with love game and 3 of these happened on Mircic's serve although Teodora has a decent serve.I mean Mircic couldn't win a single point on her serve in the first set  Stephanie is moving great in the court and hits some sensational shots DTL. She dominated the game until 3-0 in the second set but then Mircic sudeenly woke up while Stephanie started to show her slackness part. She found a way to solve her problem with Stephanie's groundstrokes: MOONBALLING!. Of course she wasn't always moonballing, she also realized the thing which also drew attention on me. Gehrlein serves like the way former ATP player Michael Chang used to do. She never stands in the same line with the T-Point.At some moments i thought she was going to serve from the court 2  But it was mostly her moonballs which made Teodora win 5 games in a row and serve for the set. She could finish the set at 5-3 but her coaches got a warning by the referee because she was talking too much with them. She lost her momentum after this and the set has gone to a TB. Teodora has become the second Chokella of the day and wasted a 5-0 lead in the TB when Stephanie started to bomb Teodora's baseline. The last point of the match lasted longer than a minute and Stephanie finished the match with a lob "a la Hingis" Mircic didn't shake referee's hand. She's a good player in overall but is she the next best thing of Serbia? I don't think so...

Ungur def Hofmanova 64 57 75

The score looks "thrillerish" i know. But this match was the least entertaining MD match of the day.
Before talking about the match i have to say that we will hear so much about this name in future: Nikola Hofmanova. :)

She started the match really fast and broke Liana's serve and i never saw a sign of strain in her face while she was hitting the ball. She has a rocket forehand and she's really dangereous if she don't make an error in her first serve.Liana was making too many UEs and Nikky seemed concentrated enough until 4-2 in the first set but then Liana started to serve very well and started to attack Nikki with her cross-court shots. At that moment I realized the reason of Nikki's pressure-free face and behaviours. She never needed to run until Liana started to use the magical angles. Liana won 4 games afterwards and took the first set 6-4.

Liana dominated the game in the second set until 5-1 and had a match point. Niki has won 6 games in a row which is really surprising for an unexperienced player. Liana had some problems with the referee and her left shoulder.

Liana took a medical timeout after the first game of the second set and she seemed exhausted. Niki didn't stop to attack and led 5-2. This was the turning point of the match for me because it has provided me to see how unexperienced Nikki is and she showed us something which is not surprising for an unexperienced player this time. She started to hit her shots on Liana's forehand side which was a wrong decision. Liana was having pain when she was hitting a BH but Niki couldn't see it and became the third Chokella of the day by losing 5 straight games. GSM Ungur 64 57 75.

It's all for today :wavey: I have some blurry pics if you guys are interested :help:

TUESDAY REPORT

TED courts were full of DRAMA today.I have 2 vids to prove it ( Roesch's tantrum and Rodionova's injury before the match point) and i'm trying to be able to upload them at the moment. It's too bad i'm a retarted if the technical knowledge is a must :p The reports were ready hours ago but it's been tough to upload my low quality but full of drama videos.

Pem Ozgen def. Caro Maes 62 62

I actually wasn't planning to go to the venue before 2.00 AM today. There is a "creative writing for advertising" class every tuesday at 12.00 noon in my college and i have a risk to fail if i miss a single course. Even though Pemra is not a favourite player of mine, i wanted to see if our no.1 player's level has been raised or not since i last saw, so i went to TED in the morning to watch Pemra.

I know Maes very well because she generally doesn't miss the Turkish tourneys and she's good friends with Turkish players. She can talk some Turkish too. Anyway her Turkish sounds better every time but she's not that good on evaluating her game. She's way too unskilled when you compare her with Pemra. OK, she does hit the ball clearly and well from time to time but sending the ball back with robotic shots is never enough if you want to be successful in our day's women's tennis. She could be bagelled in both sets.

Pemra sometimes hits nice volleys and she has a nice BH slice. My problem with her game is that she never hits surprise shots.I mean her rivals start to realize what she is going to do after a while. She never has a plan B and she can be very disturbing to watch if she's in the defensive mood. Thank God she was so focused today and didn't let Caro break but she still has to fix that top spin forehand and find an Alternative weapon instead her BH slice which starts to become detrited.

Floris def. Umanets 60 60

I saw a small part of this and the WC chick was lobbing everywhere :tape: The weird thing is Anna F. never came to the net during the first three games of the match. I've never seen the WC chick hitting a FH or BH. She seems like she is destined to hit lobs.I hope she can at least learn moonballing one day :tape: I couldn't have any idea about Anna's game but i know her ITF results very well and i don't give her any chance against Stephanie in R2. I hope she can try to prove me wrong and show us something we haven't been able to see today.

***

I had to miss Ipek and Tadeja's match  But i've been told that Ipek has overpowered Cagla. I've seen Ipek's training session later with her coach Olivier Vanneste and i can say that they really want to reach the final in here.

I couldn't watch Majeric vs. Schaefer either but Vivian (Segnini) said me that Tadeja was ill and taking meds.

The second match of the court 2, Buzarnescu vs. Evtimova, was still in progress when i went there again at 1.30 AM. The cutest supervisor of the world , Vesselina, told me that the first set lasted approximately 2 hours  When i sat down to watch it a bit, Dia broke Mihaela's serve at 3-all but then she suddenly called for a trainer&medical timeout before she retires with a non-serious looking back injury.

***

Petkovic def. Klaffner 64 63

Andy Petkovic is an outstanding player. I know how bad she injured herself in Aussie Open at the beginning of the year and it's really fascinating to see her great effort and desire on the court just after 10 months. She hits killing shots from baseline to DTL and She has an effective first serve. There've been hold of serves until 4-4 in the first set before Andy broke Melanie's big serve with using the cross courts a lot. First set 6-4 Andy.

Melanie' serve and footwork is really great but she does some silly mistakes at crucial points. She's approaching to the net too much and eventually the whole second set was a passing shot training session for Andy. Melanie just need to play more tournaments. She's really entertaining when she stops those UEs. Since she looks evaluative, i put her name in the same list with P.Mayr and Nikki: Austria's next top100 players.

P.Mayr def. Halep 61 62

Disappointement of the day for me. Simona's brain just wasn't in the court today. She was actually in the mood of "Oh Shit i play with the no.1 seed".

Patricia Mayr is EXCELLENT. I'm seriously planning to ask her why does she keep playing in this level. I was also one of those people who think Patricia will be the next Muller. Yes, she will be like Muller if she doesn't stop to play challengers but i believe that she can be a very dangereous WTA player. She's running EVERYWHERE and Simona has hardly hit a winner against her. And Simona has a great backhand. When Patricia got the 3-0 lead in second set, Simona finally started to play some tennis. She broke back Patricia and served for 3-all. The retarted referee has called OUT the serve of Simona which was clearly IN and Patricia broke her again and again. It was a bad match from Simona, but the reason of this was not mainly herself, it was Patricia's mesmerizing tennis.

Martinovic def. Arina Rodionova 36 75 52. ret

We need some DRAMA in challengers don't we?

First of all Sandra didn't win the last set 6-2. Arina was serving to stay in the match but retired after Sandra wins the point at 40-all and gets a Match Point. We will watch why she did it but let's take a look what those girls have done in previous sets.

Most of you know Anastasia Rodionova right? After watching the first set i said that question to myself: " How can a B*tch like Anastasia have a sister like Arina who is such an angel? " :p Arina took the control in the first set and dominated the game after 3-3. She made some great winners with her forehand. The eye catching shot of Arina is her double handed backhand slice. It can work sometimes but i still couldn't decide if this is high quality or not. It surely is not like Moni Niculescu's slices if you want to make a comparison ( Miss you Moni  ) Anyway Arina won the first set in an "Angel Mood"...

In the second set, the "experience" factor came out and Arina has been pushed to make errors. Sandra is a kind of player who doesn't take high risks. She stays in the baseline and keep defending until her rival makes a mistake but she absolutely is not a ballpusher. Very clean and high quality shots from her. There hasn't been any breaks until 5-5. In her service game Arina did 3 DFs and started to show some signals of "B*tchiness". Her double handed BH slice is getting weaker when she needs to use it too much during a point. That's why Sandra kept attacking to her baseline side and finished the set with a drop shot which was IN. Arina shouted loudly to the referee: "No F*ckin Wayyyy!!" They've discussed about the decision and then the referee called the supervisor. Vesselina came to the court and told Arina that she is a professional tennis player and that she must stay calm. We can translate it as : " Shut the F*ck up otherwise i'll default you" Arina then wanted a toliet break and didn't come back for 10 minutes. The Pale Skin Princess Guskova was watching the match too and the referee asked her to go to the toilet and warn Arina. Anyway Arina came back and continued to grumble. She was definitely sending the ball to the net and Sandra won 5 games in a row in 15 minutes. I don't know why but Arina decided to play some tennis again and took 2 games from Sandra. She was still grumbling. At 40-allthird set, the DRAMA's smell was in the air. I turned on my cam to record the match point and i think i jinxed Arina. OK OK OK I just let you to watch the video.

Sandra

Piter vs. Roesch 36 62 64

I was focused on Sandra and Arina's match on court 2 and i didn't see it at all. What i know is Katarzyna is really fast and both players have great BHs.

Roesch wasn't happy with the umpire and they were always discussing on court 3. Kata has done many UEs errors in the first set. In the third game second set Katarzyna broke Roesch's powerful serve. She uses the cross courts too much and finds the lines. It made Angelika to discuss with the umpire. She lost her momentum totally after 2-3 and Kata won the set.

Angelika was able to stay cool in the third and led 3-0 but Kata never gave up and won 4 games in a row. At 4-4 in the second set Roesch wasn't comfortable again. I couldn't understand was the problem over there. I define Angelika as a great player and i heard so many good things about her from some posters here. But i'm not sure how true is it to discuss with the referee for 10 minutes and calling the supervisor ( she've been tired today, poor Vesselina :p ) in a very crucial moment of the set. I don't know if she's right or not and i seriosuly don't care about it. I actually would prefer her to stay calm. She's one of the oldest players in the tournament and she could easily answer the umpire with her great BHs. I'm putting a video and i hope Angelika fans won't bother. If they will, they can be free to let me know about that and i can remove the link&video.

TED courts were full of DRAMA today.I have 2 vids to prove it ( Roesch's tantrum and Rodionova's injury before the match point) and i'm trying to be able to upload them at the moment. It's too bad i'm a retarted if the technical knowledge is a must :p The reports were ready hours ago but it's been tough to upload my low quality but fully

OK, she does hit the ball clearly and well from time to time but sending the ball back with robotic shots is never enough if you want to successful in our day's women's tennis.

Yes, she will be like Muller if she doesn't stop to play challengers but i believe that she can be a very dangereous as a WTA player.

It's all for Tuesday. I feel dizzy today and i was so lazy to go there. Even for Ipek's match :o But i'll make up my mind soon and will probably catch the dubs matches. :wavey:

Sandra trains at my tennis complex here in Georgia (USA)

was she with anybody, like a black male (thats her husband)?
How was her game? Powerful

I havent heard from her in a while and was wondering if it has changed. Her ranking slide is pretty depressing..

could you give a better description on her for me?

and great sportsmanship from Sandra for Arina :hearts:

Of course I can but i primarily prefer you to watch the video that i'll hopefully record tomorrow. It will include some parts of the dubs final. ;)

She's definitively one of the Dutchies to watch next year. Hope Equus saw that match?

I haven't seen any of her singles matches but watched some parts of her dubs matches and you're right she's one of the dutchies to watch next year ;) She ALWAYS smiles, i mean ALWAYS. On-court or off-court. ALWAYS  She must be the happiest girl in the ITF tour. ( I actually have more off-court news about players but i just don't want to tell them nowadays because i've been insulted enough by some posters as i mentioned before.Thank you all for your understanding ;) )

@_Equus_, Simona Halep was injured two months, back problems. That was the reason because she lost against Mayr with that score. She needs time and games to find her rhythm.

Yea she was a little bit rusty but i could still wait more from her because i know she'll be a big player one day and i wanted to be one of those people who had a chance to see her doing well. ;)

WEDNESDAY REPORT

Buzarnescu def. Senoglu 75 64

I have seen the second set of this match ( I didn't miss it tobi,i drove my car with 120km/h to catch this :ras: ) and Mihaela was obviously the one who deserved to win this. I know Ipek for 6 years now and every time i watch her, she looks stronger to me. Her serve and FH are so much better than 2 years ago. She could have a better singles career if the serious shoulder injury wouldn't stop her for such a long time 3 years ago. Her volleys are also amazing BUT in singles, her approach to the net is really weak and you can easily hunt her with a fine passing shot.Since she has become a dubs specialist, her groundstrokes have been mutated; I mean she rarely hits the ball from the center of the baseline and she sends herself away from the court. Eventually she plays her singles matches like a doubles match. She sometimes forget that there is not someone else in her side of the court. Anyway, she led 4-2 in the second and served for 5-2 but Mihaela is one of those players who never stops to fight; she's a lefty and it's really hard to predict what kind of a shot she'll make. In one of the rallies, she has hit " a Flat FH,a Topspin BH, a BH slice, a lob and a stop-volley" in a row. That's why her game looks a little bit clumsy but that clumsiness definitely works for her. She's also challenging every point and always finds something to complain about. The funny thing is she never talks or yells when she is doing it. She jumps or uses her hands to express herself. She could be a great pantomime artist
She came back from 2-4 and won the match by attacking Ipek's rusty BH. Romania will likely be the next big country of the tennis world but Mihaela has still a lot of work to do to come into prominence...

Gehrlein def Floris 62 61

I took a quick look at this to see Floris' game style. Italian posters are generally mad at her because she usually plays the lower level ITFs. Believe me guys; dear Forza and the others, she has to keep playing in this level otherwise she will be unranked :tape: I don't know if i have the right to talk about her because i just saw a couple of games as i said but it was the beginning of the second set and there were not any reason to give up yet. Steph is in fire at the moment but Anna could still make some damage for her. She seems like a baseline camper and she doesn't look like she can actually do the "Run&Shot" combination. She'll be 27 next may and i don't believe she can be defined as a threat for the new generation and top200 players. She has the game to win a bunch of non-75K/100K ITF titles though.

Klaffner/Martinovic def. Haciraifoglu/Sezer 62 60

Idil and Melis are coming from Izmir which is also my hometown :hearts: Melis did quit her high school in Izmir and continues her education with the correspondence school to create more time for training. She moved to Istanbul like 4 months ago and currently trains with one of my former trainers. From now on she's my favourite Turkish player. I know this is such a pretentious pronunciation but i saw how talented she is for a 15 year old girl and she has the greatest serve and forehand among the other Turkish players. She's just tremendous. She currently stands at no.225 in juniors but i'm sure she's going to make the top100 next year. Talking about the match is not necessary because both Sandra and Melanie have played like they were training except some great rallies in the first. Idil is a UE machine but since her goal is making it to a college in US, i may call her decent. She can hit some nice groundstrokes and especially stop-volleys&lobs before she makes a silly mistake at the end. Their unexperiency can be seen on the way they talk with each other after every point. Even i heard their tactics from the grandstand. Melanie and Sandra were mostly listening them instead creating their own tactics.. :o:lol: I'll hopefully bump this thread when Melis starts to upset the important circuit players.

Senoglu/Shamayko def. Hofmanova/Segnini 76(4) 63

It should be called as Ipek def Vivian since both Marina and Nikki were also spectators like us. Vivian has an effective FH and she hardly makes a mistake with it. Ipek/Marina led 4-2 in the first set but then lost their advantage and they had to play TB to win the set. Marina was the weakest link of the court and Ipek has always been able to win the games with her outstanding volleys. The only winner of Marina came on the match point . Here it is:

I know some of you guys are waiting for the saturday and sunday reports but unfortunately i haven't been able to go to TED since Friday. I play the "leading man" in an advertising campaign of a very popular chocolate brand in Turkey and my moron director don't let me go anywhere from the studio :sobbing: Save me :sobbing: :p

The tourney's winner is a qualifier but it's not a surprise name at all. Andy won't need too much time to reach the top100 again. She's simply great. And same thing exists for Anna Gerasimou (except the "again" part), i saw the last points of her match against Varvara Galanina. She's doing high-class defense and she's a fine fighter on the court. Her serve could be faster but she sends it to the lines and it pushes her rival to make an error. She has to know that there is a shot whose name is "Backhand". She generally tries to hit a FH even if the ball comes to her BH side.It can exhaust her more in higher level tournaments where the higher level players play. She doesn't trust to her BH but she has hit some great ones in the TB tuesday. That lack of trust might be one of the reasons of her loss today because Andy is really good on finding the weak sides of her rivals and she can rotate the ball brilliantly.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your nice messages about my reporting style :D. It was the first time i did it that seriously (if we don't count last year's final) I wish i could do it for the SF and F matches. I'm planning to visit 2 WTA tourneys and a GS next year: Paris Indoors,Istanbul Cup and US Open. And of course i will try to follow Turkish ITF tournaments more than ever.I may be back with my reports for all these events if you can persuade me to do it :p
