I agree with Chris 84 - I cannot believe Moore didnt get a wild card and Warburton did  but hopefully she'll come through the qualifying and do some damage in the main draw :)

She was still in EL after last update. There is a good chance that Curtis made into MD without a wild-card and maybe it was given to Tara. Will see when MD comes out.

What the hell is Mayr doing here and not in Linz? This girl needs to start testing herself up against the big guns, I mean she's made it all the way there and it seems like she still thinks she's ranked in the two hundreds.

She didn´t get a MD WC for Linz and therefore she decided to play here because she maybe get more Ranking Points.

But i don´t understand it neither

I'll hopefully be at this all day so I'll actually be able to post something about my impressions of the matches that I'll see. The only match I was really able to concentrate on today was Rodier v Ince. Ince was quite impressive, whereas Rodier was very hit and miss, and despite having the "aura" of being the superior player, she was getting very frustrated with herself.

Oh, and Sargeant threw a few little temper tantrums on the court next door

I arrived too late to see any of Begu v Claydon. I assume Begu won easily, but I don't know for sure.

Jessica Ren was very impressive and could easily have won the match, but Mekel stepped up her game in the final set and looked very sharp on her volleys. In general, Ren outplayed her from the baseline.

Piter was the player in qualifying that I was most looking forward to seeing, but she wasn't overly impressive today. She won the big points, so she won in straight sets, but it was a very close match.

Weidemann played some really great tennis. She has a lovely single-handed backhand, and was reeling off cute drop shots and hardly missed a volley. Haberkorn was also very impressive though I didn't focus on her match.

Great win for Vickers. The first set was very closely fought and was similar to Rodier's match with Ince yesterday. But this time Vickers won the big points and Rodier went to pieces in the second set. I was disappointed with her performances over the two days.

Virginie Pichet (Fra) bt Katarzyna Piter (Pol) 6-4 6-3

The best match I've seen so far in terms of quality, especially in the first set. There were no breaks at all until 4-4 and then Pichet took 4 games in a row. Her serve was on throughout and she was solid from the back of the court. Piter can be pleased with her effort imo. It was a tough draw for her, and Pichet played well.
I later got Piter's autograph and she was cute. I think she was a bit embarassed that anyone wanted it

Amanda Elliott (Gbr) bt Karen Barbat (Den) 6-1 6-3

The courts suit Amanda, and I think she can win this title potentially. She blew Barbat away with some great serving (I don't think she faced break point once) and her forehand was superb. Hlavackova is a potentially tricky match for Elliott next though.

Andrea Hlavackova (Cze) bt Natasha Khan (Gbr) 6-1 7-5

Khan only started playing when she went 5-0 down in the first. It was basically a slugfest from the baseline of a reasonable standard in the second set. I don't think Hlavackova was broken all match.

Paula Fondevila-Castro (Spa) bt Yulia Fedossova (Fra) 7-5 5-7 6-4

This match took aaaages. PFC was a typical Spanish grinder, and Fedossova was not on form at all. She kept trying to hit through her, but the Spaniard was generally too solid and Yulia's shots too wayward. One game in the second set lasted about 25 minutes and must have had almost 20 deuces

Virginie Pichet (Fra) bt Laura Haberkorn (Ger) 6-4 6-1

This was a close match until the end of the first set. Haberkorn was actually 4*-3 up and then lost 9 of the next 10 games. Pichet was solid again and will probably be a test to Mayr in the next round.

Andrea Hlavackova (Cze) bt Amanda Elliott (Gbr) 6-0 6-1

The scoreline really says it all. Hlavackova was very good, and Elliott was very poor. Hard to say how good Hlavackova was cos Elliott was so out of sorts, but she was hitting some great shots and serving well.
