Caroline will be tough... very tough for Anna right now. But Anna is capable of winning, as always. Surely being in Russia will help her mentally?

This draw and in her condition = :help:

Good luck to Anna Chakvetadze!
I have never been a fan of the girl, but I want her to win tomorrow(even though I am a big fan of Caroline Wozniaki).
As a fan of Nicole, I know what it is like to be a watching your favorite slumping to the max. Both are young girls with a lot going on in their lives, and I really hope that AnnaC can pull this one out. Good luck to her and her fans, I will be cheering for you!
Go Anna! :bounce:

Hey all! Haven't been in Chaky's forum for a while. Well it's Kremlin Cup time. There was a time not so long ago when Chaky shocked just about everyone and won this event. <Sigh> Those days seemed so far and away now.
Now she's first up against Wozniacki. A constantly improving player and very consistent. She has beaten Anna before, in fact she's guilty of snapping Anna's perfect record in finals. ;) I think we all know who will come out the winner but as always there's a slim hope that maybe Chak will pull herself together and win in front of her home crowd. She's in Russia after all but she's not really a Myskina when playing in Russia. She had lost early here before like you know...last year. :tape: :o Anyways enough of this uplifting talk...Go Anna!
Tight finish but to be honest I never expect Anna to win doubles matches any more.
And singles matches as well?? :p Just kidding. :)
ETA: I've noticed Anna seems to play against a large variety of partners. I think this is her first time to partner with Cibulkova.

6-2 1-6 :help: Don't tell me this will be another 3 set loss. C'mon Anna. Let's just... pretend that second set didn't happen.
Oct 8th, 2008, 09:28 AM
Damn, Anna wake up!!! It's time to win!!!
Oct 8th, 2008, 09:38 AM
Aha! Anna breaks back for 2-2. Maybe this is the beginning of the fightback. :bounce:

6-2, 1-6, 4-6
Yet another early loss. :tape:
You know she is no longer elite Russian player....when Goldenlox stops writing about her!

I guess we all knew Caro would be tough... but she was pretty close this time so she made me get my hopes up...

Expected loss when you know Anna has been shite during the whole year except in Paris. I still can't understand how Anna still love making a fool of herself with such horrible results... Anna : Take a Break NOW ! Stop insulting yourself : it has been more than enough this year. Come back focussed in 2009.

08.10.2008 Chakvetadze lost in the 1st round
The Russian Anna Chakvetadze lost to the Dutch Caroline Wozniacki 6/2, 1/6, 4/6 in the 1st round.
“The game simply failed”, - said the Russian, who didn’t suppress the disappointment in her play. – I was training the whole week in Moscow, but it didn’t help”.
The tennis player confessed that she is in bad shape and won’t be able to participate in Zurich tournament , but will definitely play in Luxemburg.
come on Anna :bounce:

Now she lost a final and in Moscow to Wozniacki. Not a good sign.
Oct 8th, 2008, 04:36 PM
Expected result. :o
Oct 8th, 2008, 05:37 PM
Oh no! :o A three set loss after such a good start. At least she wasn't defending any points this week. Unfortunately she didn't gain any either.
It's tough to lose first round at your home tournament, especially when it's a tournament you've won before. The signs from Anna are disappointing. Sounds like she really needs to do some hard training.
Oct 8th, 2008, 07:03 PM
This is just plain awful. I pray she wins a match in the weak field of Luxembourg. :sobbing:
Remember when she was 59-20 last season. :hearts: And take away the beginning of this slump at the end of last year (minus the YEC).
Let's hope for a better 2009.

Anna to play against Caroline was just so mean

Anna's interview after her match against Wozniacki
You played great in the first set. What happened next?
Then I stopped playing great, as you saw it.
Anna, what bothers you now?
Everything bothers me now. I had a good draw for a tournament of such level – I mean, to play Wozniacki in the first round was lucky. She arrived here from Japan and she wasn’t ready at all. While I have been training for a whole week in Moscow, but it didn’t help.
Do you have a coach working with you now?
No. I am on my own.
Do you want to get g coach?
Yes. I want to get a coach. If you know anybody who is good I will turn over to you.
Do you want to have a break now?
Probably. But on the other hand it’s the end of the season and I’ll have a break anyway. I think I won’t go to Zurich next week. So there is only that tier 3 tournament in Luxemburg left. After that I will relax.
Oct 10th, 2008, 05:37 PM
I do hope Anna gets a long term coach. She needs serious guidance on her game right now.
Oct 10th, 2008, 06:52 PM
She sounds really bumped out & frustrated. Poor girl. Maybe all she needs is to enjoy tennis once again instead of putting so much pressure & feeling frustation.

Couldn't define my feelings any better than that ;)
