This will be the match of the day seriously. 2 big servers. I hope someone will serve 130+. I think that Venus will take it though in 21tight sets.

there will be 0 breaks of serve or every game will be a break of serve.

Thats how unpredictable their serves are.

I think ALG will crack after losing that second set tiebreak. She can't possibly lose a 27-25 tiebreak without a match point in there.

Haha.. seriously..

Vee has been practicing with Serena.. who has a more precise serve than Groenfeld..
and I think that Groenfeld lost to Petrova in the USO like 7-5 6-0..

anyways.. I would be waiting for Vee's 2R match against Pennetta...
Pennetta has won the last 2 encounter..

Direwolf
Sep 28th, 2008, 04:49 PM

The only way ALG is matching Venus in this match, is in serving power. Even then however, Venus is going to be serving more powerfully and consistently anyway. For all the bombs ALG can reign down, it's extremely erratic.

ALG's movement is still nowhere near her 05/early 06 days, and you cant afford to be a poor mover against Venus on an indoor court, where she'll be taking so much time away from you anyway. ALG would have to play the match of her life to take down Venus if truth be told. Venus may still be shaking off the rust after the OPen, but she knows how to take these early wins more often than not.

Venus in 2:)

And you don't need to be a hater to see that Venus is pretty much out of form this year (outside of grass). Compare her results this year with her resukts from 2001 or 2002, and you'll see. Venus is not THAT bad usually :wavey:

A result is the result of her form.

Of course if you think that Venus played amazing tennis when she chocked those 20 set points against Serena or when she made a about 40 UEs against Li at OG, then she is not out of form

actually ALG is like such a hug ball basher I noticed while watching the USO. She aims the serves towards the corners and then hits a swinging volley.

But I think Vee will win. I hope she will I wonder what she will where though.

2001/2002 :spit: Venus hasn't been THAT player for a long while (for a number of reasons), I think that's clear to almost anyone who watches tennis.

Venus is NOT out of form, if you're gonna judge her form on 2 matches, then you'll probably tell me Svetlana is out of form based on her Final performances. Outside of 2 matches, Venus V the entire chinese population (cheering her every error), and the Match against Serena where she just couldn't close it out, Venus has been taking care of business fine, taking care of notable names like Radwanska, Azarenka and stosur VERY comfortably.

Basically Anna Lena should be VERY afraid, and I suggest her fans wear black. Venus is gonna tear her apart!

I guess this is some kind of Venus fans vs. Venus haters fight, because I don't get how anyone might seriously believe ALG stands any chance of taking Venus out.
It's not whom Venus beat at the USO (and Radwanska is a serious opponent, but how she played her matches - she was more than convincing and I expected her to beat Serena. One crazy loss does not a loser make.

Since when does notable name mean the same thing as measuring stick? Matt you're such a vulture :o

Lets look at my now infamous comment:

Venus has been taking care of business fine, taking care of notable names like Radwanska, Azarenka and stosur VERY comfortably.

Bearing in mind the key phrase was 'VERY comfortably'.

Radwanska is in the top 10, grounds enough to take her seriously. Azarenka is not one to be taken lightly either, the girl is dangerous. Just watch her match against Serena at the AO earlier this year (noting how relieved Serena was to end that match because she knows Azarenka can be trouble), or note that she took Safina to 3 in Montreal. Compared with how Venus dispatched these girls without breaking a sweat or losing more than a handful of games - few if any players have had easier times agains these girls.

lol Last two losses for Radwanska were against Petrova (6-3 6-0) and Zheng (6-2 6-3).I would call that pretty comfortable wins for Nadia and Jie.
As for Azarenka, she has some game but she's a total headcase and she has been dispatched by Safina (twice I think) and Sveta this year.
Won't comment on Stosur...cause she's cool.

That being said I agree that venus was playing really well at USO until she had to close out sets against Serena.

Quite clearly the loss to Venus shattered her confidence :tape:. But anyway, Venus beat her 6-3 6-1. I said few if any players have had easier times agains these girls. So Zheng doesn't count. :silly:

Yeah so? None of that makes her one to take lightly, being the general point.

She can be a challenging player with her SV style, but it was the way Venus obliterated her. She reduced Stosur to laughing at herself .
