Well, they haven't had them computerized forever, but it's the worst one I've ever seen. 10 wildcards to Uzbek players? Jesus, that's sad. You'd think they could at least spread the wealth a little to the other -stans.

Its a tier 4 in a place where it would be expensive to fly to...and if you qualify you only get 3 points anyway. At least the seeded players here are actually decent.

Maybe, but on the other hand, I think it is great that unknown players are given chances like this...and look at the $ they are getting, it's really nothing.

That's what I say. It's a great opportunity for the players to see what it's like on the WTA tour.

Be freaking happy for them

Not at all. From Israel it is about the same distance as from Moscow. In fact, going via Istanbul that has good connections with Toshkent, would be fairly convenient for an Israeli.

Arantxa Rus has much further distance from the Netherlands.

If she got drawn against some of these, err, WCs I think she might win a match. Seriously.

Yes!

How are the top two seeds not even on opposite sides of the draw?

That's a lot of Uzbekistani players, they must be relying on their own federation. For only four countries to be (over)represented is quite sad. Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgystan and Israel...

True, but you could at least spell her name right. Too bad Julia didn't make the trip...

I think this draw narrowly beats Bali, not sure though.
Both should serve as a need for checkup in the WTA HQ.

They never are in Q Draws. It goes 1, then 2, then 3 etc rather than in MDs where they are on opposite side.
