Disgaree on Sharapova, her best weapon is the forehand. With Jankovic it´s a tie between the movement and backhand imho. The backhand down the line is the best in women´s tennis. Biggest weakness is the forehand not the serve. Because of that topspin swing, it´s too slow and she can´t get any power behind it. It prolongs points and weakens her rare net attacks. She could shorten so many points, if she could hit winners or hard flat approach shots from the forehand.

If I had to choose one I would choose movement over her backhand but I am aware of her magnificent backhand too.

I disagree, her serve, especially the second serve, is extremely attackable. Her forehand at least is consistent and can hit winners occasionally.

I disagree with Aga's mentality... many matches such as her win over Sharapova in the US Open and also her win over Kuznetsova at Wimbledon this year prove her as pretty mentally tough. I'd still say her like of firepower and attacking game.

Elena DFing pathologically is a thing of the past. So yeah?

Venus takes risks on her second serve, more so consistently than any other player on the tour. Except maybe Safina recently.

Venus still loses 80% on her second serve though. Her second serve is extremely slow and unstable, and she knows it, that's why she's trying to much and double faulting much.

Well with dementieva there's no difference with her 1st and 2nd serve, both are a struggle for her, but she has gotten it together now.

Yours is a rather isolated and strange view. If she were to hit only 'right shots', as you call them, she would be winning all matches. As it is she wins a lion's share of them but not all.

USO 2008 -

17 of 34 = 50 % Serena

17 of 38 = 45 % Venus

Points won on second serve.

3r -

12 of 20 = 60 % points won on second serve. Against Radwanska she won 43%. Those are modest stats IMO

The only match of the top of my head where she lost close to 80% of second serves would be RG 3r (but that's clay so serve statistics aren't really relevant)

When she's playing a good returner, she loses that amount, unless she doesn't double fault, but her second serve is very bad, it's too easy to hit a winner out of it, you see what an inform serena does with it.

In that final, Serena has a dislocated rib, when she got over it, she dismanteled Lindsay completely.

In fact, Serena has the best second serve, nice kick, nice pace, great effects, it's just the fact that she doesn't follow it up, that she loses a lot of points on it.

But when she does, the percent is around 50-80%.

S Williams = 48% won - low/high 33/78
V Williams = 45% won - low/high 37/57

I didn't say her footwork was bad. I just meant that her greatest strength isn't really footwork, but footspeed. Her footwork does help of course.

Chris, you really think Maria's forehand's a weakness?

It's mostly relative. Due to her technique on the stroke, she can usually only go crosscourt on it, and when she's even slightly nervous, making her hit a forehand gives you a more likely chance at an UE or a shot to attack. I could say her volleys/net game is the worst part of her game, sure, or even her second serve, but I don't think she's too half bad at net--pure power lets her come up there and the second serve used to be the best in the business.

Because that's incredibly stupid to say and worthy of bad-repping. It's perhaps the most worthy bad rep I've ever dished out. Be proud.

I barely restrained myself from writing this.

Now that Ivanovic plays crap I'd say Dementieva has the best forehand out there.

9. Vera Zvonareva
Best - Fighter
Worst - Ego
Don't know what you mean with ego? In all interviews and press conferences she comes over as too modest, and wouldn't hurt to have a bit more ego,but that might be what you are meaning.

* When dementieva her backhand lands in, it can be a very dangerous shot, cause she can hit it very hard and right on the lines, most players have difficulties with her backhand, especially when she hits it really deep.

Did you really say her best shot was her backhand?:help:
Her backhand goes 90% of the time crosscourt, and it is pretty much the key shot if she wins or loses a match besides her second serve.
Her backhand ruined her chances to do better at the French this year:o

However said Venus' second serve isn't weak must be crazy. Historically it has always been her weakest shot. Venus lacks variety but lets be honest, putting in a better second serve would probably do more good to Venus' game that instill variety.
