Dominating performance by the 'veteran' Stosur :lol: 100% break point conversion rate :drool:

Sammy's fourth final, but she is yet to take a title. Hopefully this is her moment.:)

Good luck tomorrow Sam:bounce::bounce:

Good tournament from Jill!:)

I have to wonder if something was physically wrong with Jill since she only held serve once against a returner of Stosur's level. It isn't surprising that she didn't break, but she must be ill or carrying a little injury.

Still, well done to Sam and good luck in the final. :yeah:

It isn't that hard to return Jill's serve, no matter how bad you are. After she has come back though, Sam's returns seemed to have improved a lot. Her ground game is a lot more consistent now so she is actually beating the players she is meant to beat.

I agree that Sam has gotten more consistent lately with her groundstrokes, but Jill should at least be able to keep the ball in play long enough to hold her serve more than once. The only other possible scenario is if Sam was absolutely on fire, painting lines all over the court. Has she ever recorded such an easy, one-sided win over a decent baseline player before? I hope she keeps it up in the final.

Well she defeated Shahar Peer this year in Los Angeles 6-1 6-1. So I guess that counts, no matter how much of a slump Shahar is in, she can still get a hell of a lot of balls back.

Well done, Sam. I hope you win this tournament. How long has it been since an Australian won a singles title outside of Australia? Actually, how long has it been since an Australian won a singles title?

In fairness to the poster, 2004 is quite a long time ago, particularly for a country.

What about 2005 Sydney when Alicia Molik beat Sammy Stosur in 3 tough sets.

This was a shocking example of elder abuse. If Sam ever plays Dellacqua, I suggest they hire a security detail for Nana.

Why can't we revere our elderly like the Japanese?
