JJ outplayed her until 6-3 *5-2, then totally lost focus and let her comeback to 5-5.Glad she finished her in straights though...

Nice showing for Aleks, her best result against JJ, she took advantage of JJ lack of focus to stay in the match, she must have played pretty well too...:worship:

I don't know why people were saying Stanford was a huge fluke for Aleks. Her results were very bad before (except RG), and since then she's played like a consistent top 50 player. She was very convincing in both Tokyo and Beijing.

This has to stop, if she want to win something (like a tournament). :(

I totally agree.
The main reason why she hasn't won much more tournaments (even a Grand Slam)is her inability to close out matches.

Ever since she started her professional career, she has managed to lost very many matches in such a way.

Wimbledon 2005 against Myskina: JJ lost 6-0, 5-7, 10-8 after her 5-0 lead in the third set.
US Open 2006 SF against Henin: (we all know the story)
Beijing 2007 final against Szavay: Szavay was trailing 6-7 1-5 and had to save match point in the next game, before launching a comeback.
LA 2007 SF against Ivanovic: JJ lost 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 failing to convert two consecutive match points on 5-4 in the third set.
Berlin 2007 QF against Henin: Jelena managed to squander a 4-0 lead in the third

and many more...

But no chokes this year. It seems promising!

I'm sure it got pretty late in Beijing. JJ can stomach blowing a lead against a player like Wozniak and still recover. She'll be fine.

Win the tournament!

JJ is playing the same stupid schedule that cost her at the end of last year. She couldn't win any matches at the YEC, since she was totally wasted, totally drained of all energy. She is doing the same thing now. She'll play Beijing and then fly to Stuttgart. Then off to another tournament. All that playing and she has only won 1 event.

She might be able to get away with this now, but when it catches up with her, she will pay big time. You simply cannot treat your body as a machine.

LOL actually JJ made big improvements this year on her schedule, I don't know if you remember, but last year she played many more tournaments during the year such as Auckland, Amelia Island, Strasbourg, Birmingham, s'Hertogenbosch, Stanford, San Diego, Bali and Bangkok... Plus, in the top-10 you still have Safina, Radwanska and Zvonareva who played more tournaments than her so it's not THAT bad I think, she's reducing her schedule little by little and we'll probably continue to see that next year;)

Great job to Jelena :)

But I am even more impressed with Aleks after seeing the second set at 5-2. She really played amazingly and it's a shame she couldn't take a set this time  and that medical time out by Jankovic at 6-5 didn't help Aleks at all either :(

So glad that JJ won, but:

I feel bad for Wozniak. Seriously. I liked her at Stanford, but she gets the WORST draws.
She either gets a direct entrance into the draw, but is seeded so low she gets a big player, or she qualifies and gets a big name player. Seriously, Aleks has the worst luck
