I don't really see Jelena finishing number one. She has had a great season but I still think Serena and Dinara are the likelier candidates. I'd say 50% Serena 40% Dinara and 10% Jelena.

Who would have thought that she will be a serious contender for number 1 this year when she started this season as low as rank # 15.

Safina can consistently reach the latter stages of any tournaments...

While Jankovic is the same as Safina...
but shes less aggressive..

First I thought that it will be Jelena..But I've changed my opinion so my vote belongs to Serena

I think Serena will get it, just eeking out Safina at the YEC. I wouldn't be surprised if Safina is actually #1 going into the YEC.

There's something wrong in the WTA. I mean Dinara or Janko having a chance at finishing #1 is just sick. Whoever has not won a GS doesn't deserve to be #1. Just look at the ATP TOUR...

safina has won three tier one events, and jankovic is consistent. serena reached the final of two grand slams BUT doesn't play enough.

If you want to end the year number one, you should have to play at least 14 or 15 tournies.

both rafa and federer play 17 to 18 tournaments a year
if serena hardly plays more than 13 tournaments a year unless she is extraordinarily good there is no way any ranking can put her as no 1 even average of 17 wont do that

I think it's quite amazing that Serena is #1 with only 11 tournaments, vrs. Safina with 18 and Jelena with 17 (no offense to Jelena or Safina) :worship::worship::worship:

I voted and hope Serena, for many reasons. Not just because I'm a fan but because I think she has done more to deserve it than the other two, and she gives the rankings more structure. By that I just mean that you know if she plays she is the best player on tour and not only there because of consistensy...so....SERENA
