I really think she can.

She is so consistent now.

Graf holds the singles record and I just don't see anybody stopping Serena. She is probably going to play for many more years. She is only 14 Slams behind that number.

I think it is thin-close to being a certainty.

Serena for GOAT. :worship:

Q. Do you want to catch Steffi Graf? Do you think that's at all possible? I know you're a little bit far behind as far as 22 Grand Slams.

SERENA WILLIAMS: Well, only way I can catch her is for singles and doubles, because, you know, my goal has never been to have the most. My goal has always been to have the best time and do the best I can do.

Good answer. :yeah:

With regards to the thread question the answer is so obvious it doesn't even need stating.

She just needs to win all 4 slams the next 3 years + 2 others before retiring quietly.
She'll do it.

so 14 slams...that is 3 1/2 years worth of slams...Serena would have to win EVERY slam up to French Open 2012...don't think so

by the end of her career, Serena will have 12/13 slams IMHO, assuring her a place in the top 10 of all time

cowking
Sep 9th, 2008, 09:13 PM
No. She might win 32 though.

She is already comfortably in the top ten, on stats alone

Serena for GOAT. :worship: You're crazy!! It was a great win for Serena to win The USOpen and become #1 and she deserves all the credit, but she's won 9 slams since 99 , you think she going to win 14 more , even if she wins every single one of the next14 she'll be 31 then. I think she has a shot at Billie Jean's 12, but even reaching 18, which is what Chris and Martina had is a strech.

Also Court has 24, alot of people seem to forget this.

I don't think Serena will be able to reach 23. But she may win a couple more and probably reach 15.

Why are people being so conservative with their estimates????

Venus is planning to play until 2016, right? Well, Serena always does what Venus does. So both sisters around till 2016 at least, From 2009-2016 there will be 32 slams, Serena s obviously never going to lose a match again, except at Wimbeldon where she'll let Vee have something, being the  of a sister she is.

So by my calculation 3 grand slams a year over 8 years = 24 slams. Plus the 9 slams she already has = 33 :worship::worship::clap2::umbrella::toothy:

misael
Sep 9th, 2008, 10:26 PM
Even at the hieght of her career she won 3 slams a year, every year it's going to get a little harder, it happens with everyone! So no one else is going to win any slams in the next 8 years, I don't even know if I should take your post as serious or are you joking.

She'll probably reach double figures but not 22. It's hard to see that record ever being broken!!!

Well, i got to thinking she could end up with something like 16-19.
If she plays tennis healthy for the next 6 years. it will be 20014. She is 27 i think. LOL 27 + 6 = 32 years old.
If she can win 2 slams for the next 5 years that will give her 10 slams. 10 + 9 will give her 19. Hey. it's possible to be damn near 19 slams. She could win 2 slams a year.

If she happened to win Aussie 09 and Wimbledon 09 she woud be at 11 already! Shit it's possible for Serena to retire with 20 slams.

MrSerenaWilliams
Sep 10th, 2008, 07:40 PM
If you include doubles and mixed? Sure

I figure when she retires, she could have almost 30 in all actuality.

9 singles
7 doubles
2 mixed
-----------
18 right now.

She's good for at least 6 more singles majors (conservative number if she stays as healthy/fit as she's been post FO). And she and Venus want to play doubles until the 2016 games, so they could EASILY win 6 or more if they played more majors (they've only played 3 since 2003 and they've won 1 of them, and withdrew from 1). And I figure once Serena gets older, she could drag along Blake, Roddick, Querrey, Bryan (either one) to a mixed slam.

If she really makes good on playing for the next 8 years, she could snag 12 more majors for sure (as long as she's healthy and motivated).

I would love to Serena to get those two mixed slams at the Australian Open and the French.

At this point, I think she can win 15 total. But who knows, the younger players will get better. Serena (and Venus) will have to play smarter tennis. Which they are. So who knows how many they will end up with. I'm just happy they are still playing and winning.

I forgot to factor in her doubles and mixed doubles Major titles. So she can win 23 Slams in her career, even more. Either way, she has had an awesome career. I think she is the best of her generation, Venus behind her, Justine follows (just because she retired too early).
