Cool I think Magda and Sorana are going to be playing. You should have a great time. I'm sure you will have some good questions lined up. Sorana has been playing very well recently in doubles and I'd love to know how she feels about playing doubles. I'd also be curious what both Magda and Sorana regard as their favourite surfaces. Oh and I hope you interview Sesil too, she is so friendly. :)

DAY 01 REPORT:

The first day of Vogue Athens Open belongs to past. It's the first time for Greece to host such an important
tournament. Vogue Athens Open is on ITF Women Circuit Top tournament as give more than 125.000 USD. The greek hospitality is really nice. The facilities in Athens Tennis Club are good but as a greek player tell me, there are a lot of work to be done about courts and other facilities. The locations seem to be perfect as the club is next to an accient sight! Players stay in a Grand hotel with all of honor.
DAY 01:
Not all the favourites won their 1st round matches easily... Two of seed went out of tournament; greek Eleni Daniilidou[2] lost to Ekaterina Ivanova in a disappointing match with 6/1 6/0. Jelena Kostanic Tosic was another seeded player who lost in 1st round match by Italian Roberta Vinci 6/1 3/6 1/6. No1 seed Sorana Cirstea, No2 Maria-Jose Martinez Sanchez, No4 Magdalena Rybarikova, No6 Dominguez Lino, No7 Ani and No8 Johansson all win in straight sets their 1st round matches.
Tomorrow will gonna play:

SINGLES 2nd Round:

Roberta Vinci (ITA) Vs. Silvia Soler Espinosa (ESP)
Lourdes Dominguez Lino (ESP) Vs. Ekaterina Bychkova (RUS)
Stephanie Foretz (FRA) Vs. Magdalena Rybarikova (SVK)
Galina Voskoboeva (RUS) Vs. Maria Jose Martizez Sanchez (ESP)

Doubles QF

Ekaterina Bychkova (RUS)/Vesna Manasieva (RUS) Vs. Lourdes Dominguez Lino (ESP)/Arantxa Parra Santonja (Spain)
Sorana Mihaela Cirstea (ROU)/Galina Voskoboeva (RUS) Vs. Vanessa Henke (GER)/Patricia Mayr (AUT)

Really nice tournament... Just think that courts are close to an archeological sight!!! When you seat on courts you can have a wonderful view of it and a little bit of Acropolis! Cool facilities and the best athmosphere there! The organisations was very good and friendy! They allow me to talk with some players in players room (which is no allowed in tournament). A big thank you to Mr. Halemos and Mr. Gavalas.

Cool interview. Thank you. I like that Magda's favourite tournament is Wimbledon and she likes grass. :bounce:

It's not surprising because she does play great on grass and I think she is going to do brilliantly at Wimbledon in the future. She was very unlucky with her draw the last couple of years there.

Sorana Cirstea beat Kristen Flipkena to reach the final. She will face Spaniard Dominguez Lino, who upset Magdalena Rybarikova.

Report from Cirstea-Flipkens:

Sorana played pretty good as the same did Kristen. Sorana's forthand was working good. Some little problems with her backhand... Flipkens made a try in 1st set but Cirstea finally managed to take the set in tie-break. In the second set Sorana never give the chance to the Belgian to come back into the match. Nice win by her. She need to improve a little bit her 1st serve and the second... They are expectable... She need to do more work on her serve and use more spins oh her graundstrikes...

Rybarikova-Domiguez Lino:

The Spaniard play really well. Manage to break Magdalena and close the 1st set... Rybarikova made a lot of unforced errors... too many... the same happen in 2nd set... with Rybarikova still making UE and Dominguez Lino just put the ball into the court. The sevre didn't work for Magda... At the end of the match, Lourdes said that she was really happy to g this far and beat Rybarikova. Magdalena denied to talk and left the court... She just said she was too tired from the match...
