I met Jocelyn at Wimbledon qualies last and she's gotta be at least 6'2" and probably closer to 6'3". Anyone know how tall she is?
Very cute and nice in person btw.
Clearly taller than Fed.

Joss is selected for the Commonwealth Games team (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8915839.stm). The Scottish Commonwealth Games team.

Any updates/photos on Jocelyn?
Jan 20th, 2011, 07:39 PM
Joss has been named in the GB Fed Cup squad. Does anybody understand the reasoning behind that?
Jan 20th, 2011, 11:56 PM
She'll be on the sideline...I guess just to motivate her. I'm surprised they didn't go with Whybourn, Broady, or Moore.
Feb 2nd, 2011, 11:10 PM
Well, she justified her inclusion by winning the doubles against Switzerland with Heather, after Anne and Heather had lost both their singles.
So well done Joss.

Obviously the selectors knew something we didn't. Splendid work there.

Sears believes she might soon have a big decision to make about her future.
"Joss has got a natural instinct for doubles. She has a good serve and volley and her physique lends itself to doubles," added Sears.
"I've always been slightly disappointed she has not transferred that into the singles.
"She has a big decision to make whether to become a specialised doubles player.
"I spoke to her about it at length during the Fed Cup. If she wants to pursue a singles career she needs to dominate on the ITF tour, otherwise it's a non-starter."

Any new pics of Joc?

JOCELYN Rae is winning her fight to be fit for this month's AEGON Trophy after recovering from a long-standing foot injury.
"I will still play singles but there has been more of a conscious shift towards doubles recently because of the injury," added Rae.
"There is less court coverage and I was picking up injuries from playing singles so I thought it was the way to go.
"Colin and I had a great time in the Commonwealths and I really enjoyed playing with Heather at Wimbledon last year.
"I have been thinking about playing more doubles for a while because of the injuries but I will still be factoring singles into my schedule.
"I can't wait for the grass court season now and it'll be the perfect way to return by playing in Nottingham."

She's been playing doubles only this year and is at 486. Is she coming back in singles?

Joss has been selected for the Fed Cup team, replacing Laura Robson.

Joss has been selected for the Fed Cup team, replacing Laura Robson.
Wow, at first glance I was seriously surprised.. Then I remembered there's no Anne, Mel or Bally... Joss is clearly in great form in dubs right now, in another final with Smith this week in Sunderland. I've said it before, she has huge potential to be a top-100 doubles player at least...
Jan 25th, 2014, 03:18 PM
Smith and Rae win the doubles final in Sunderland 61 61!
That should take her doubles ranking up to #260!!
Feb 3rd, 2014, 02:40 PM
Doubles ranking rises to #247 today. Her career high is #209, achieved in 2010. With nothing to defend until July, it's impossible not to see her breaking that top 200 barrier in the very near future.
Feb 22nd, 2014, 12:39 AM
Joss & Anna are into the finals in Nottingham $25.000!!
Taking on Broady & Voracova
Feb 22nd, 2014, 03:37 PM
Another title! Wins 7-6(6), 6-4
Feb 22nd, 2014, 03:44 PM
Fantastic Joss & Anna!!
They were 56 (*0-40) down in that first set!
Feb 24th, 2014, 02:24 PM
Seeded 3 with Anna in $25k Beinasco this week. Her first event on clay since 2010! It'll be interesting to see how they perform away from home too.
Feb 27th, 2014, 05:56 PM

F: Rae/Smith d. Clerico/Gatto-Monticone
Feb 28th, 2014, 09:24 PM
Lost the final 13-11 in the third, ending their 16 match winning streak :(
Apr 4th, 2014, 11:26 AM
Another 25K title, Edgbaston, for Rae/Smith.
May 17th, 2014, 04:30 PM
Rae/Smith are currently number 28 on the WTA Road to Singapore doubles list.
By number of tournaments won (4), they must be close to the top.
Looking forward to them collecting some scalps during the English grass court swing.
Jun 8th, 2014, 11:41 PM
Joss and Anna won the Nottingham $75.000 doubles event
Jun 9th, 2014, 12:28 AM
Are they staying in Nottingham for the 2nd week too? Thought they might get a wildcard for Birmingham. They really need to just start competing at the top level I think now.
Jun 9th, 2014, 07:51 AM
Congratz to Jos for getting to her highest ever WTA ranking, and to her and Anna for becoming the 2 highest ranked British doubles players...
Less so for failing to get a wildcard to Birmingham.
Jun 16th, 2014, 12:21 PM
Becomes the British number 2 behind Anna Smith after moving up to #138. The pair are #29 on the race and have a WC into Eastbourne this week, their first WTA tournie together. They have a tough opener though against second seeds Srebotnik/Peschke
Pennetta is twice a Wimbledon doubles semi finalist; Stosur thrice a finalist. If seedings were based on singles rankings then (12 + 17 = 29), they'd be close to top seeding. It's a tough tie.
Smith/Rae are now in something of a rankings quandary. They have ascended the rankings so swiftly that their excellent results from 6 months ago mean nothing ( 12 points for each 10k tournament win - but their 11th best score is 24 points).
They need WTA, not ITF points, to even have a chance to even enter WTA tournaments; and they can't enter WTA events, because they don't have sufficient points.
Jul 15th, 2014, 01:12 PM
Wins her first match at WTA level since her comeback with Anna. 60 points earned but only 36 gained due to her 11th tournament being a hefty 24. It'll be good enough to get her up the rankings a few spots but not much. This might be the kind of incline the pair will go through in the coming months unless they really break through and reach the latter stages of tournaments like these.
Jul 15th, 2014, 04:54 PM
But still, not bad for winning just one match, compared with how much they have to slog to get those points and that prize money at lower tournaments.
Every little helps.
Jul 16th, 2014, 01:03 PM
They just beat (1)Goerges/Piter in R2, 6-3 4-6 10-3! :woohoo: :hearts:
They had the *4-3 lead in set 2, but then they played poorly and lost the next 3 games. But they regrouped and played really well in STB, especially Joss. :hearts: Congrats on a great win! :yeah:
Jul 16th, 2014, 01:19 PM
So that's 110 points, minus 24, as noted above. So a gain of 86. Useful, I should think. Must take them close to 120 in the rankings.
Jul 18th, 2014, 01:40 PM
Into the final :cheer:
Jul 18th, 2014, 01:57 PM
Excellent job. At least 180 points in the bag. 280 for the winners.
Jul 18th, 2014, 02:05 PM
Doubles SF: Rae/Smith d. Amanmuradova/Vogt, 3 & 3. :yeah: :woohoo:
Truely thrilled for them! :hearts:
Jul 19th, 2014, 08:24 PM
Final vs. the tough team Klepac/Torro-Flor, who won their SF in straight sets today. :)
Go go go! :cheer::cheer:
Jul 20th, 2014, 04:25 PM
They lost 1 & 1 in the final.  Quite expected it, they had a very tough team on the other side of the net. :( Congrats on a great week! :yeah:
Jul 20th, 2014, 09:32 PM
Shame it wasn't a bit closer, but that's still a very good result in a WTA tournament.
Jul 26th, 2014, 09:22 PM
Into the $50k Lexington final with Anna. They'll face second seeds Aoyama/Wong.
Jul 26th, 2014, 09:45 PM
what does this do for their rankings?
Jul 27th, 2014, 12:01 PM
Up to about 110ish… But down to No.2 and No.3 Brits as Heather overtakes them with her title.
Jul 27th, 2014, 05:39 PM
Potential quarter final against Black/Mirza in Washington if they beat Rogers/Abanda in round one.
Jul 29th, 2014, 01:57 PM
can they gain ranking points here? I'm confused
Jul 29th, 2014, 08:51 PM
Wooh! They won their first round match. :cheer: Probably the toughest match they have ever played next but I think they are up for it and the experience can only make them a better team.
Jul 31st, 2014, 05:32 AM
They beat Black & Mirza in straight sets  Now that's a nice result to wake up to!
Jul 31st, 2014, 11:01 AM
they must be near the top 100
Aug 1st, 2014, 10:37 PM
So close! :sobbing: 61 16 1210. The tiebreaker was neck and neck, I guess the Japanese pair just got lucky... I hope they at least can break into the top 100...
Aug 6th, 2014, 03:38 PM
where they heading next?
Aug 7th, 2014, 12:33 PM
I asked in the doubles forum and it seems unlikely they'll get into the US Open draw :( It seems silly that the team ranked 23 on the race cannot get into a major but that's not how it works unfortunately.
There are so few places for them to play at the minute. They couldn't get into Montreal this week so the only alternative was a $25k in Landsville, which would have offered no ranking points for them if they had won and very little prize money. They probably won't get into Cincinati either. There's a $100k+H next week in Columbia which I'm hoping they play.
Aug 16th, 2014, 05:47 PM
Congrats on being a top 100 doubles player! :yippee::hi5:
I wonder where they're both playing next.
