It's still very close, especially with JJ (actually I think she has more points to defend than Jelena before YEC) so it'll depend how well (and how many tournies) Serena'll plays during the fall.

JJ doesn't have many points to defend for the rest of the year besides her Beijing final and her Stuttgart SF, so she can make up a lot there. But Serena also only has the Moscow final so she can also make up a lot. So it's hard to say.

If Serena keeps up a healthy schedule this fall, which i believe she will and can see her totally dominating the tour. So, YES!

If Serena wants to, could be long time.

Serena and Jelena could shift spots a few times before the YEC, as they both have few points to defend, but Serena should secure the spot after AO. It will take a long while and some solid results for Ivanovic to return to the top spot, consider she has YEC SF points and AO F points.
