Worst draw for any type of tier. Most ITFs 50K up qualies are harder.
This looks like an April Fool's joke.

:eek:Wow, this would have been a nice opportunity for some lower ranked players to play in a wta quali draw :).

This shows how dumb Dokic is....she withdrew from here, when she could have had a chance here to get some much needed points:o

YES it is! I just saw it... What to say... no one want to play in Q??? Athens Q draw is really harder then in Bali...

Jelena is just retarded, you can't expect to much from her :cuckoo::silly:

Modiac.
Sep 6th, 2008, 05:20 PM
Not exactly. I remember one year in Guangzhou one player's cousin was asked to play Q because there were no other players. What's more ridiculous,is that she won a match. :o

The average rank is 1,708.5...
Vina del Mar's, which is even smaller, top 8 qualifying players average rank was 146.25

A statistical note: it's irrational to make an average with the "9999", it's not even a ranking. If anything, count her as a #1000.
It reminds me of Eurosport commentators yesterday saying Serena's opposition average up to the semis was 56, and Safina's over 200, not realizing that Ahn totally distorts that average, and should be counted as some sort of adjusted floor for this type of calculation, for what it's worth, say #150.

Sep 6th, 2008, 05:42 PM
Why all these BYE's?? Why not make the draw with only the final qualifiying matches??

Just think if one player withdraws or gives a W/O, one of these ladies will practically get a DA into the MD. :help:

I know this is the week after the open, but out of the thousand ranked players in the world, they couldn't at least gather 16 for the qualifying? :tape:

this is something that realy pisses me off about tennis, lower ranked GB girls should be in this draw or dokic, lucic ect. if players wana make the big time a piss easy qualifying draw is the place to start. i just dont get it?

That's because players do not want to risk flying all the way to Bali for noting in case they can't play since it's a 16-players draw.

Not all lower ranked players have the $$$.

the quali entry has been total pants for ages, players ranked inside the top 600 would have gotten in no problem.

these same players have to travel the world to play challengers, so why not be brave and play qualies of wta, heck the rewards for qualifying way outstrip some challenger in outter mongolia.

btw a lot of the brit girls get their airfairs payed for, so traveling is no excuse for not being in this qualy draw.

Yes, but travel fatigue is also a factor. It is not just the expense of going to Bali.

thats not even an excuse, most brit girls have not played since us open qualies. if they cant get on a plane to bali (thats payed for) and try their hardet to take advantage of a very weak qualy draw for a WTA tournament, why are they bothering to play tennis?

with ther rankings a group of 4 could have made the trip, practiced together and realy made use of all the money thats thrown at them by the LTA.

:wavey:
Michaella always wants to play the big tourneys - and I agree with you. Stuttgart is not the best idea. She should play Tashkent or the other ASsian tourney that week instead. She's also down for Moscow. :help: It's silly. How does she expect to get some points when she's coming back from inury and playing such strong tourneys. :silly:

But still, she can't qualify for the MD of Bali if she's injured - more's the pity...she was thinking about playing there last year too, but then she changed her mind. ;)
