I couldnt find a thread about this talented 20 y.o girl so voila, this mistake is repared ;)
Lenka is currently playing her best tennis (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?p=13960268#), she won a 50.000$ last week in Palic defeating Marosi in the final so that makes 5 ITF titles in her pocket. :) She also reached a final in a Polish 25.000$.

I had the chance to attend the QF of Katowice, so I could discover her. She is a very complete player with good movement, decent backhand and a very effective forehand. She hit it a bit in men's style, it's not so often to see a girl using big top spin on her shots. I got really impressed by her behaviour on the court, quite patient and lucid, she knew when to dropshot her opponent for example without overusing it. In addition to that, she is very very motivated, you can see that she is enjoying playing, so it results in a very positive energy! :)

BEST OF LUCK, LENKA!!!! :D

Lenka is having a wonderful tournament in Katowice, the Slovakian team was really behind her, Lenka Jurikova was watching her for example and she was the first to congratulate her when she won yesterday! :) She is a very sweet girl too!

Her run in Poland :
R1 : def Koek 61 61
R2 : def Pochabova 63 61
QF : def Korzeniak (2) 62 62
SF : def Stanciute (Q) 46 76(6) 76(12) :yeah:

What a fight today!!! It tells a lot about motivated she is, she is not the kind of girl to give up easily!
Top 200 is coming for Lenka :D

Lenka will play Nastia Sevastova in the final, an interesting match between two girls on the rise. She is also a tough competitor, so Lenka will also have to dig deep for this one.
Anyway she wont leave Katowice without anything since she took today the double title with Nastia defeating the Polish duo Kosinska/Rosolska on 57 63 10/3!!!!!

Sadly Lenka didnt keep this winning streak alive, Petra Martic was too tough for her in Maribor, she lost 63 64 .
Too bad but no surprise here, Petra is a very solid player and Lenka may have felt tired from her last runs.
Better luck next time!

I think she finally took a well-deserved break ^^! But I have read that Palic winner has a feed-up into Seoul's MD, so unless she decided to change her schedule, Lenka will participate in the MD of this WTA event! It comes at the best time possible :yeah:.

Iceland

Lenka has not been given the easiest draw in Seoul, she directly plays the top seed, Maria Kirilenko!

BUT this may not be as bad as it seems. First because Lenka plays with lots of confidence and self-belief. Then because Kirilenko has a pretty weak game in term of power, she is only dangerous when she comes to the net. On the other side, Lenka has this top spin forehand which is really fantastic. Since it is played on rebound ace, a surface that favours spin, I really think she can make a good match here :).

Lenka's quarter in Seoul :
[1]Maria Kirilenko (RUS) vs. Lenka Wienerova (SVK)
Lucie Safarova (CZE) vs. Qualifier
Camille Pin (FRA) vs. Qualifier
[WC]Han Sung-Hee (KOR) vs. [5]Pauline Parmentier (FRA)

Good luck :D:yeah:.

we will see... Lenka doesn´t like hard so much as clay... but i think, it can be really interesting match.... she can be little nervous, because it will be her 1st match in WTA tournament... but she should to try to play her best.... good luck Lenka!

Iceland
Sep 21st, 2008, 10:56 AM
Well it's hard to judge about good she is on hard ... since she always avoids playing on this surface :o:lol:.
But I insist on the fact that this is rebound ace, hopefully it will change everything . I really hope that she will play well, it would motivate her to play more on hard. Anyway if she wants to improve and get into top 100 it's a must!!!! ^^

Wow that hurts. :o:sad:
I was a bit too optimistic then, but I'm sure that something prevented Lenka to play her game. Pressure maybe, I don't know ... She must feel pretty disappointed that her first experience ends up being a beatdown. I feel really sorry for her, I was so sure that she would make a great fight out of it .

Anyway there are so many weird results in this tournament, Dubois defeating Pin, Makarova defeating Paszek ... Everything is against what I predicted :(

Indeed. :help: She never managed to hold her serve! :tape:

Lenka's next tournament is either Joue-Les-Tours (50k) on hard or Jounieh (50k) on clay. We all know what happened in the last tournament that has been played in Lebanon, so I really hope that she will play in France. It would be an occasion to test herself on hard court on a smaller level.

Lenka will play a pre-event before her main goal of this fall season, Bratislava (100.000$).
She is in Luxembourg's qualies, a pretty good choice to play there! She will have tougher opponents than in ITF and she might score big points if she plays well again. We'll have another clue to see if she is really hopeless on hard courts or not .

She has quite a tough draw sadly. First Gerlhein, then Laine or Petkovic...

You were right to hope, she was given a clement first round since she faces a Q. Of course there are tough players in qualies such as Bovina or Krajicek ... but nobody she cannot beat.
Clearly not her surface. She profited from poor errors and angry behaviour from Stanciute to win the 1st set. She was using her top-spin FH well to win points. But once Stanciute calmed down she started to dominate and it was Lenka who was getting more and more angry, throwing her racket a lot. Quite disappointing, but she's done better than I thought.
Sadly I didn't get to talk to her before the match and afterwards she rushed so fast and never came back to the venue.

Lenka won her first match 64 63 :woohoo:

She has surely worked hard during the Winter break to get this first win on a hard court . Well plexicushion should suit her game pretty well with the high rebound. I'm really happy she started the year on a good note!

She plays Katya Ivanova now. Pretty nice occasion to reach the 3rd round...
Good luck :D

Lenka in the final of qualies! :bounce:
Overcame Ivanova 26 63 64! :D When I opened the SB she was 2-3* down in the 2nd and she won next 4 games. Then once again in the 3rd she was 1-3* down and 2-4* and managed to turn it around. The penultimate game when Ivanova had around 6 GPs to go 5-4* up was decisive. Lenka managed to break back and served out the match (she had big problems serving in the last set). Well done!!! :D

Seems that as much clay tennis as Lenka plays, she may not be putting enough on her serves for hard courts. I hear Oudin is a very good returner but she wasn`t exactly serving lights out herself as Lenka broke her three times. Good run in Australia though. Lenka is an interesting player. I am glad some posters will be posting her results here. I hope her support and this thread stay alive.

Best of luck in your next tournament Lenka! :D

Yeah I agree :D Quite positive for her as she still lacks references on every surface but clay. Too bad that her singles match finished on a bagel... I just hope she enjoyed playing for her country. Well she's a competitive girl, so we can assume that she liked the challenge. Anyway since she got a first career win in doubles with Magda, this week end will remain as a great memory!

It's a good draw as Andreja is on a pretty bad losing streak. Time to score more wins into main draws, now the aim is to get a seed for Roland-Garros qualies. It's a bit ambitious but as clay is her best surface, it should definitely be possible.
I think Lenka will try to play Barcelona & Marbella qualies as I don't see her name into ITF events.

Good luck!

Her good form on clay is still not back but at least results are slowly coming. She has time to improve .
The only thing that truely worries me is her schedule which is pretty hard to follow. I have seen that she will be back to the USA for a big challenger. It was a bit stupid to have this stop in Latina then...

A lot of praise has emerged from GM towards Lenka! It's good to see that her talent is no unnoticed anymore :)
That's a pretty clear win, the only bad thing is that she had a slight injury during this match. Hope she's fine to crush Osterloh!

Three Americans in a row and first career MD win, right? :D

Still not a top 100 beaten but definitely a very impressive win! It's becoming obvious that green clay which is a bit faster than the red one totally suits her game! It's really a perfect chance to keep on taking big points and climbing steps in the rankings quickly! It would be great to have her seeded for Roland-Garros. :) Anyway she will learn a lot from such a tournament!
Well done!!!

I saw her match today. Indeed she wasn't at her best because of this injury. She had some kind of protection on her ankle and knee, I really hope she will be fine for the rest of the tournament. Her mental and tennis were strong enough but against somebody better than Ditty, it might get tough... Well it was still a solid match overall and she deserved to win :)
I will write a report and post pics a bit later!

Health must have been a serious issue again to lose to Renata. God, I hope she takes a break if her leg injury still bothers her. It's not a good idea to keep on playing in pain. Her mind is certainly not as focused on the match as it should be. It results in a lapse in concentration, then more losses and to finish no confidence. It's what happened to Cornet. Take care Lenka .

I will put my pictures of RG here, I swear I will

Well as you said, it was fully expected. I just don't like how she is going on a losing streak! Hope she is going to be part of the few WTA tournaments to be played in Europe this Summer :)
