Heres to hoping I can be Maria's good luck charm by starting my first tournament thread. :p

Also for a good draw and that Maria somehow finds some form and has her best showing here so far. :D

I don't think it helps that the person in your avatar and sig has beaten Maria twice this year 6-2 6-4 and 6-1 6-1

Please change it:angel:

I like this draw. Maria will face good players but not unbeatable. Paszek doesn't play well this year, same thing for Dulko, same thing for Schnyder and same thing for Kuznetsova.

Of course, this is not an easy draw but Maria can do very well if she plays her own game:drool:

First round against Tamira Paszek AUT

She has a nice little section. Tamira hasn't played that well all year since Australia except one match in Montreal.

http://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/draws/ws/r1s3.html

One match? Even Poutchkova with 30 DF's would have beaten Ana. The next round showed that Paszek ain't that good.

The draw looks good for Maria, but it actually doesn't matter. It's just a case of win some matches. Opponents aren't so important now.

Again I support her for 100%! And will be happy with every win and dissapointed with every loss.

It's such a great draw but Maria's form is so unpredictable at the moment  I would give her a chance at beating Patty, so I'm hoping for a round 4 appearance ;) But she's got Tamira first up, who's no push-over so she'll have to play some good tennis to make at least round 3

For some reason I said to myself clicking onto the thread that it would be Schnyder in the 3rd round.

This doesn't look a bad section, my only worry is Pazcek in the 1st round. She is someone who's been considered precocious and that worries me.

It's surprising to me that Maria's hardcourt game has slipped so much in the last year. I didn't see this coming. I hope she can pull this match out against Paszek but I have my doubts. Paszek probably thinks playing Kirilenko is a win for her. But that should not be the case.

Hopefully she can try and salvage this year... I think she got to the third round last year, she's gonna have to try and repeat in Kolkata then actually show up and produce some kind of showing in Moscow. Not to mention that quarterfinal she had to kick off the year in Australia that she'll need to defend. Hopefully she does not snowball in the wrong direction down the rankings over the next 4 months.

Maria broke Peszek to lead 4-2 in the final set and then lost the final 4 games of the match. Masha had the mometum and has the experience advantage and it meant nothing. And it's sad. :( I don't know where her career goes from here. But I can't see Kirilenko staying in the top 20 next year. I had high hopes for her with Eric Van Harpen coaching her but her game hasn't developed and she's weak mentally. I hope Maria can somehow get her game together and have a good finsih to 2008. But it's hard to believe how bad her hardcourt game is.

hihi i think tamira was just too good for her *gg* ^^ i mean, shes had a shaky season indeed, but since shes with larri passos again, things have started to get better for her^^ and remember, i think it was in auckland this year, there she defeated maria too!! maybe youre right, and maria really needs mental coaching... to give a 4:2 lead away is for sure kinda sloppy, but probably she just got a bit unlucky there with certain big points too. but i dont know.. i've actually never seen her play so far, cos in big tournaments she fades out so early, so i have basically no clue what her game is like unfortunately...^^

I wasn't aware of Paszek or Garbin being that accomplished in doubles.

They're not. I was there courtside live. Everything was fine until Garbin started being more aggressive and snuffing the ball at the net. Flavia was losing her cool a bit. I tried to give verbal support to Masha and Flavia but umpire shushed us a few times. In the end, I'm at lost for words how they could have let it slipped away.

I watched Maria's opening match against Paszek. Tough loss.
I did take numerous photos of Maria and have posted nearly 40 HQ of them
at the following webshots location:

Right :awww:. Summary of the US Open 2008.

It seems she has a lot to work on now, but hopefully it won't be too long before we once again can enjoy pictures of a victorious Maria.

I happen to support the loveliest of them all

Hmm, at 2-2 and up 0-40 Ana "took a Kirilenko" and proceeded to lose 13 of the next 14 points.

The girls must have contracted the same disease.

:hehehe: I wonder how it is transmitted

I thought she never entered Bali.
When entrylist came out for Tokyo, she was in.
She isn't anymore?

At least she plays Seoul and Moscow (qualies :help:)

I really hope Makiri isn't going to keep playing Tier III's and IV's, it isn't working.

I've been away for a week and I come back to the board to find virtually nothing has happened, aside from Masha and Flavia losing a doubles match.

His name is not always on a September 15 Tokyo entry list yet.
But is who writes that he runs in Tokyo, and is according to who China.
Is sure that he gets to it Wildcard in Moscow?
If not,may not enter a the September 29 Tokyo competition, where third seed currently.
You are then omits Moscow? What is the truth?

Krzysiu!
I was in Warsaw!I felt very well myself.
Which one are you?It you are who is photograped, who sent a mascot baby to become Maria?
I plan that I am going again if Maria set off for Linz now to look at.

Anyway,I found a website like that, where Maria 18.seed on the Toray Pan Pacific competition.(www.carolinewozniacki.net)
I would be better according to me if he would run in China rather because few of his chances are here last year's Kolkata to protect dots.

You should tell me your trip to Warszawa was successful :fiery:. Well I don't know exactly what do you mean saying I was photographed. I took a pic of guy who was staring at Maria whole time and then gave her teddy bear (loooser :o) during training. Hopefully you had really nice time in Poland but I'm sure that Polish friend would entertain it much more ;)
