Juliana Lapentti hopes to continue the winning streak:D
''I'm playing superb tennis at the moment. I'm playing so intelligently that the other player don't know what to do! Here in the juniors, all the players are power players except me and a few others. When I came on the tour a couple of months ago, I just tried to play the power game but it definitly was not my game. Then I went to see my sister Nicoletta play in Stanford where she reached the semi-finals and I trained a little bit with her and she told me that I didn't need to try to hit winners on every balls. She was right! She told me to just keep the ball deep with heavy topspin or slice. I went back home(Guayaquil) to train and practice what she had told me and then when I made my return to the junior tour in Portugal, I won the event on hard playing like Nicoletta told me but with a little more agression since the courts were playing fast. After, I went to Austria on clay and played so defensive, the other girls went nuts! I won that event too! I'm now hoping to make it 3 in a row here in Fiji!''
That was the comments Juliana Lapentti told the reporters from the Associated Press who questionned her in a press conference when she arrived in Lautoka, Fiji.

I've just won two events, a grade 3 and a grade 2 and I'm only 38th ! I think you should change the ranking system because it's not rewarding! You should also give quality points for beating a top player...I'll never be seeded at any events even if I win the next 100 tournaments because the system won't allow it:sad::sad::sad:
Aug 20th, 2002, 12:53 PM
 facing my new doubles partner in qualifying
Aug 20th, 2002, 01:20 PM
Also you need to pull players off the rankings that have not played in a while.
i think we would loose about 20 players.
Aug 20th, 2002, 02:57 PM
I agree that the ranking system should change. Winning a grade A should obviously give you more points than a grade 5, but the difference should be shrunk.
Aug 20th, 2002, 04:11 PM
The ranking system will be changed when I reset the rankings at the end of the year! There will also be bonus points for beating a seed...
Aug 20th, 2002, 04:12 PM
For pulling off players...I'll do it right at the end of the year too! In case someone comes back!
Tomorrow is 1/2 finals day everywhere in singles and doubles!!!
