I'm really disappointed by this loss and i'd say its the worst one of her comeback so far:(

I just hope that this loss doesn't discourage her from playing the USO!!!

:o Lets just say she tanked.

I honestly don't think that she'd tank a 1st round match. Why bother turning up to play if you're going to do that:rolleyes:.

In my opinion I think it was just a really bad match from Jelena and 1 that hopefully will not affect her motivation or schedule:confused:!

Because she was already in Germany and didn't withdraw early enough when she decided to withdraw from the other ITF events and play the US Open. She already has fines to the ITF (as indicated by the $ sign next to her name on the entry lists). If you accrue too high of an amount in fines, you can no longer play until you pay the ITF, and grand slams are sanctioned by the ITF so she wouldn't have been able to play the US Open.

I am willing to hope she tanked to fly to New York.

That doesn't really look like a "tanking" kind of score.

Oh well, she's bound to have some jagged edges somewhere~ Have them now so she won't have any when she plays the USO qualies.

Aug 7th, 2008, 03:42 AM
I sense a slight tank after she lost a tight 1st set. Oh well, just put it aside and move on Jelena. As long as she participates in the USO qualies, and also the two WTA TOur events after the USO then all is well in Jeca land.:)

I don't like it how when she loses a match everyone assumes she tanked somewhere along the lines. She just wasn't good enough. Jelena is too professional to tank every match she loses (at ITF level anyway)

Let's hope she gets over to the US now and starts preparing for the US Open quallies

I completely agree. I would rather believe that she just played a bad match than believe that she threw it.

Anyway Jelena actually won 1 more game than was orginally thought: she actually lost 7-5 6-3 (not that it really matters I suppose!).

 I'm mad that she lost, for whatever reason (be it tanking or a bad match). She's been pretty consistent and we all know what she's capable of so even when having a bad match, she should've pulled through in the end.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from her.

Philip

 I dont know what to think.

A) Tank job.
B) Still affected by injuries.
C) Bad match in general.

Any of them I don't like lol.

I just hope shes in that Qualies draw come 2 weeks!!

Not really a huge issue. Every tennis player has bad days, whether it's in a grand slam or a 25k. If Jelena had not have won the tournaments she has this year then this loss would be much more disappointing, but she's still coming back, she's not there yet. She's going to lose sometimes, everyone does. :)
