Anna will play here and later in Montreal, but pay attention to what i have found in New Haven's Entry List:

Chakvetadze is a late entry here

I am glad about this wise decision!!!

Anna plays Marta this evening. If she struggles in this match I'd be worried.

Anna def Marta 6-1, 6-1. A very easy win for Anna! She will now face either Bammer or Dubois which are both definatly winable. Keep it up Anna!

Good job by Anna against Marta. That's the sort of scoreline I was hoping for.

Imagine if Dubois beats Bammer. Could be a rematch of Wimbledon round 1!

It's not looking good. Anna is down a break in the third set. Scores so far are 4-6, 7-5, 1-4. :(

It's unbelievable how poorly Anna is playing. Her Wimbledon wins were against Dubois, Gallovits and Rodina.
Now she loses to Bammer with no good players in her half.

Anna would not win a 25k. She really is playing like she doesn't belong in the top 100.

It's not a good result.

I think if she continues like this then the year may be a write-off. It could be a good thing. The tone of the whole year seems to have been set in the off-season plus the various coaching alterations. Next season would be a fresh start.

But there's still time. Anna could work up some good hard-court form while the other top players are at the Olympics.

I'm watching Bovina scratch and claw to get back in the top 100, and Anna wastes these easy draws every week.

Maybe she should get off the tour and train with a coach.
What is the point of losing early in these ultra weak fields.
She needs to improve her game.

Another disappointing loss. Anna is getting bashed in GM once again. I didnt even read the threads. Just seeing the thread titles makes me sad. All these losses is giving the haters all the reason to babble on about her sorry plight. :sobbing:

The only way I feel better is thinking of all of this as her sophomore slump. It can be very hard to come out and reproduce the greatness she showed 3/4 of 2007. She's obviously making adjustments with her game along with her coach. Hopefully she can work through all of this and come out for the better in 2009. *think happy thoughts* :) :o

Things are not that bad, its not like she loses 6-0, and i believe all this will only make her stronger in the end. C'mon Anna!

Russia's Chakvetadze, however, suffered the pain of defeat and was clearly frustrated by her performance against the Austrian 14th seed following her 6-4 5-7 6-2 loss.
"She (Bammer) didn't do anything special," Chakvetadze said.
"She was just putting ball in the court and I was either making mistakes or hitting winners.
"It was like I was playing myself. I'm disappointed. I had an open draw in this tournament and I didn't take my opportunity."
The diminutive Russian spent much of the deciding set yelling at herself and cracking her racket on the ground.

Uhm, I don't know what to say, yesterday I were very disappointed for this lose, Bammer can be dangerous to impatient player, but this time it's not correct finding excuses, if Anna is not able to bring on court the class she have and start playing better she deserve to falling down in the ranking, this can be good in the next Year, because she has only a few Points to defend, but the draws starts to be more difficult now.
