ok opend this thread cuz Bероника did it on eastbourne and she didnt want to do it again cuz that time sveta was out real fast.
so to help her out I will do it (not sure if thats gonna help);)

also I wanted to ask if someone has pics of when she played on this tournament cuz I saw on the internet she only played in 2005 but I have never seen pics.

4 more days till it starts but probably 5 or 6 days till sveta gets in action so have to be patient.

come on sveta make something of this tournament!!!

She played in '05 and lost to Daniilidou in singles. That was also the year that she
partnered with Daniilidou in doubles. I might have some photos somewhere... I certainly
have photos from the week before (Acura Classic.) It was her first tournament without
braces. ;)

Am I the only one who wonders if Sveta is going to withdraw from this tournament?
Obviously, I hope she doesn't, but the travel from Russia to the west coast of
North America, then to the east coast of North America, then to China, then back
to North America seems excessive.

However, I think Sveta does really well on hot American hardcourts.

I can't find any from Carson '05, but here's the week before (Acura
Classic '05):

I have no idea why I have no Carson photos. I didn't see Sveta play singles
that year (I had to work the night she played Daniilidou and she lost), but
I did go to the doubles match. I guess I didn't take photos... Odd.

I want to revise my theory. Maybe Sveta will play Carson. I was thinking of that
recent interview where Sveta said that the Russian olympic team was going to
Canada to train, and I figured that meant that she might skip Carson. But I just
realized that Dinara is on the Russian team as well, and Dinara is on the entry
list for Carson.

So maybe I'll get lucky and get to see them both! I haven't seen Dinara play live
since Indian Wells.

I guess this means I really need to upload my photos so that I have empty
CF cards to fill.

great pics of Sveta i've never seen them before :)

I have even older ones than that. ;)

I will try to look at my old photo directories and see if I took any
photos at Carson in '05. Maybe they all sucked. I wasn't a good
photographer back then, and had a crappy camera.

Oh, I found my Carson '05 stuff. I had mistakenly set my camera to
record video, rather than take photos, so I have these *tiny*
horrible videos of Sveta and Daniilidou playing doubles.

You can't even tell it's them unless you are massive fans and
can recognize the player by how they move.

well maybe you'll be even more lucky if they partner for that tourney.I mean, they are supposed to play together at Beijing,so to play in a couple of events before wouldn't hurt their chances, would it? What do you think?

Sveta out with a right knee injury - that is what was written on the LL section of the draw

Hopefully it is nothing too serious.

I just had this feeling I would not be seeing her in Carson.
But there is Dinara, and Nadia Petrova, and Kleybanova, and
Kudryavtseva (sp?) and Vera. I do hope I get to see Sveta in
Montreal. (OK OK, I'll reword this: I hope whatever injury she
has is not serious.)

Kuznetsova ruled out

World number four Svetlana Kuznetsova has pulled out of this week's East West Bank Classic due to a leg injury.
The Russian, who has joined Venus Williams and Lindsay Davenport on the sidelines, said in a statement: "I am so sad not to be able to play this year, especially as LA is one of my favourite tournaments.
"I hope to come back next year to give my fans in LA something to cheer about."
Hungary's Melinda Czink has been handed Kuznetsova's place in the draw.
