I think that Armenia deserves a thread. In my opinion, they have some good juniors and high hopes for the future.

Why cant you guys just let Armenia have a thread. I think that Georgia doesnt get along with Armenia, but come on. Show some maturity.

I think its because none of them really seem like they have a future never now tho one of them could be ur wozniaki or bagdhatis

Anna Movsisyan is quite promising:) She reached semis of a 10k in Romania last week. She lost in 3 sets to Dabija who won the tournament. Anna was the only player who managed to win a set against Dabija ;)

I'd say that these players would only get into the top 500 as a fluke :( but hopefully they can go further ;)

I think Armenia definatly deserves a thread and really if these people are making this petty and political they need to grow up :rolleyes:

TBH i dont really think an Irish player will ever achieve greatness but im sure the Danes thought the same before Wozniacki so yes i think Armenia should have a thread so it can look out for future prospects like we do in the Irish thread.

Armenian team is not big but will try pass it's Fed Cup zone this time - APRIL 2009 MALTA!!! Who's coming to support?????

There was this girl, Zaruhi Harutyunian (sp?), who trained in the US. She was 16 and I once read an article about her leaving Armenia to become a tennis star. She had reached semis or something like that in a $10K having a couple of good wins and then she just disappeared from the radar.

That happens to a lot of girls. Greek ones too . We have had so many players with rankings quit tennis lately(e.g.Kontatevidi, Stefanou, Kipritidou, Sakalaridi, Koumantou(has been inactive for a while and lost a rank), and others. I hate to see that happen.

Not me :o. Even though Greece is there too, I will not go.
A.I have school:rolleyes:
B.Religious reasons:shrug:
C.I live in New York, so it wouldn't be worth it to go there just for FC, to not even watch Daniilidou.
D.It must be hard to get there. There's ferries, connection flights, etc.

Armenians in Year-end rankings:

Who Is Going To Play For Greece In Malta???

hellas719
Jan 7th, 2009, 06:56 PM
I don't know yet :o
Last year it was:
Anna Gerasimou(back then about #250. this week #212)
Anna Koumantou(back then about #600. this week NR:sad: )
Irini Georgatou(back then NR. this week #608)

Hopefully it will be: Eleni Daniilidou, Anna Gerasimou, Irini Georgatou and a Greek-American girl names Alexis Prousis, but I doubt Prousis and Daniilidou will play so it will probably be Gerasimou and Georgatou, but it's hard to choose the rest. It takes place in April, so there's still a lot of time. Anyways, this is kind of off-topic. For Armenia it will probably be:
Anna Movsisyan
Liudmilla Nikoian
Ani Amirghyan
Ofelya Poghosyan

Hayastan got relegated, but they really had no chance with Liechtenstein withdrawing :(
Then there would've been a chance to win in relegation vs. Morocco/Liechtenstein, but with only 7 teams they couldn't play a relegation match
