Elena Dementieva just certified her status as a completely and utterly useless troll.

Venus looks tried and barely puts the ball in in the tiebreak, and Demented comes up with a double fault, three forehand errors from the middle of the court, and a backhand error. Pathetic.

Venus makes it to the final facing scrubs. Congrats.

Well congrats to Venus for another final appearance, she played un stoppable tennis in the first set, with a lot of help from Elena. Good luck next round!

Lena, semi finals is a great effort, but that tie break was one of the worst thing's I have ever seen. A little bit of fight would have been nice, especially when Venus was practically handing it to you. Such a good job to make a match of it though which is nice:)

WIN THE US OPEN!!!

Vee played great tennis today, and Lena didn't get it in gear quickly enough.

I can't complain. My #1 fave made the semis and my #2 fave is in the final. Even if Lena had taken the TB I think today was Venus's day, which, let's face it, is going to be the case most of the time.

But Lena's having a great year.

Venus in the final again :worship:
She was too good in first set and Elena played horrible.Venus started to miss a bit ion second set and Dementieva raised up her level but basically she couldn't do anything on Venus's serves.
Venus started to be nervous at the end and the TB was UGLY but Elena didn't take advantage (she was even worse in that TB, simply ridiculous).
All in all, Elena didn't have what it takes to really have a chance win against Venus on grass. She wasn't agressive enough, and Venus was very good overall.
Hope Venus wins the final now.

I really thought for the first time that Lena would take the second set at 3-2 in the TB, then the errors came back :sobbing:

I'm proud of you Lena though, it could have been easily a 6-1 6-1 loss but your fighting spirit in the second set was remarkable :yeah:

And you've just certified your status as an utter ass. Elena fought really well after the dismal first set and deserves props for that. Yeah, she got tight in the tiebreak. How surprising...not. Piss off you wanker.

For the record, I found that was really rude and disrespectful of Venus at the end . Jumping around before shaking Elena's hand. Couldn't she wait 10 seconds before doing that? You'd expect it of a rookie winning her first big match at a Slam but certainly not of the defending champion. Absolutely graceless.

1st set of this match is Venus best performance this season so far. In 2nd she still played good and Elena played very good, but because nerves quality of points in TB is like at some 75K ITF :tape::tape::tape: (especialy Elena UE's).

I'm now even more sure that if want beat her sister in saturday Venus MUST win in straight... she is not able to play at her highest level more than 2 hours (unlike Serena).

Aussie TV is showing Elena 6-1 2-0 down, so I think this is an ok result (though obviously not best possible)

I'm glad Elena put in a fight, it's been a good tournament for her. Especially since she may have managed to get over some massive mental scarring from roland garros in her quarterfinal.

And people who say Elena is a joke semifinalist because of this match need to remember Venus has crushed almost everyone in the latter stages of Wimbledon. And that neither Williams was given a joke draw. It just worked out that way because certain players couldn't even take advantage of their joke draws.

Venus on grass is too much for Elena. Elena was nervous in the 1st set and made too many errors. In the 2nd set, she was more calm, going for her shots and she was playing much better. shame on the TB, but it was indeed fantastic tournament.

Great run for Dementieva too.

Venus really lucked out in that 2nd set. She was amazing in set 1. Then her groundstrokes went off, and Dementieva started playing better. If Dementieva had won the tiebreak, I wasn't sure what would happen in set 3.

:worship: Queen Vee ruler of Wimbledon. 7 finals in 9 years. Amazing

:hearts: I was so worried she'd crash out to some scrub but she held it together and is in the final again. :bounce::bounce:

I could tell Dementieva wanted this match so badly. She was nervous and pressing a lot in the tie break while Venus :hearts: amazingly held back after that DF and wild forehand and made Dementieva play each point and win them. If it went to 3 sets I knew Dementieva would be the favorite so great stuff Venus for winning in straights!! amazing. Good luck in the final Venus!!

1st set of this match is Venus best performance this season so far. In 2nd she still played good and Elena played very good, but because nerves quality of points in TB is like at some 75K ITF :tape::tape::tape: (especialy Elena UE's).

I'm now even more sure that if want beat her sister in saturday Venus MUST win in straight... she is not able to play at her highest level more than 2 hours (unlike Serena).Perhaps you are right, EXCEPT she played and won the longest match in Wimbledon history against someone she had lost the last four matches to, so. . .;)

TOUGH Match. I thought it would be much easier, didn't expect a tense tiebreak in the second. I also collapsed.

But in anycase congrats Venus, Seventh Final in 9 tournaments. Please play like you did in that first set through out the finals, Venus was AWESOME in that first set.

Hard luck Elena, terrific fight though, one of the toughest players EVER when behind. Hope she'll have a good run on the summer hardcourt, they are her fav surface and she is fighting fit.

Shocked how Venus smacked Elena around in the first set!

She could hardly put a foot wrong. Then a couple of sloppy points serving at 6-1,*2-0 up and Elena finally breaks, and she is awash with self belief.

Elena realsised that merely getting the ball back into play and spinning her serves in would not get the job done. To her credit, she threw caution to the wind and put some heat on her groundstrokes, and served harder in the 2nd set, which finally won her some 'cheap' points and forced Venus to have to play her best to get through to the finals.

Nervy tiebreak from both girls, but Venus steadied her ship faster to sail into her 7th Wimbledon final!

Better luck (against someone else lol) next time, Elena! May the best sister win on Saturday, and may her name be Venus!!

Venus is playing for the history books. I hope she knows what is at stake and does not have mercy on Serena. Serenas will go for Vee's jugular. Venus has a chance to win more Wimbledons since Stephie and since she's not injured her chances are good, but she has to want it more than Serena.

Go Venus!!

Congrats.

Honey, go find someone with a similar IQ to yours to bicker with. Your prominent skills as a lawyer might be useful there. My original post was thoroughly concerned with the attitude of Demented in the tiebreak and wasn't a full analysis of the match and what happened. But again, you're just too dumb to understand that and there's nothin I can do, I'm afraid.

And you obviously lose sleep over what I think of the WS cause the last time I mentioned their issues with giving credit to their opponents was like a year ago... I take many positives out of this match as a fan of Elena's. She gave Venus tons of hell with forcing play on her behalf, not waiting for errors. Yes, she had a mental let down in the tiebreak. It happens to the best. I am almost completely confident Elena beats Venus the next time they play, particularly if it's on hardcourts. But don't take that the wrong way--it's a win/win for me, I just hate seeing either lose in general.

Anyway. I enjoyed the match. It was fun. Good shot-making, volleying, and ball direction from both. I hope my Vee wins the title.

And as a beside, Apoleb's comments obviously need to be taken with a tongue firmly planted in cheek. Even if he's serious, she's the most gorgeous useless troll ever. :hearts:

Yeah, I have super respect for Elena's game. I was admittedly afraid for Vee in this match. Elena's groundstrokes can be  and I was afraid of Vee getting in long rallies with her today. Dementieva only got to the semis because she played even shitter players on grass, Dulko, Peer, and Petrova.

Even saying that, I don't now how she got to the semis.
She served well for her but her slice was absolutely hideous.

In 2006, Dementieva had a wicked slice with some bite to it and now there was absolutely nothing on it and Venus ate it up every time.

For a player who's lauded for her ground game, Elena's backhand is average. And she seriously lacks variety. All her weaknesses were glaring today. Maybe it's the surface. But her flat hitting should be good on grass.
