They are too close in age to be sisters from the same mother and not nearly close enough to be twins. Just coincidence that they share the same last name and are both from Romania?

It's unusual, but it is possible to have 2 kids in the same year without them being twins. I attended high school with 2 sisters who are 11 months apart---one was born in January, the other in December

Well, 11 months is not 8 months -- and here the difference is significant.

A hilarious thread. Everything seems to be wrong in the original post: `sisters' are not related, and concerning an assertion about Radwański sisters not reaching Junior Top 10, I may be wrong, but it seems that both reached #1 at some point of their respective Junior careers. In any case, they were multiple Junior grand slam champions.

Off topic, but this term has always puzzled me . Why do Americans stress the ˝? Where I'm from siblings are siblings as long as they share one parent. I don't have any outside siblings , but my late mom had quite a number thanks to the stud who was my grandpa  My mom got along so well with her brothers and sisters , and even my grandma treats them like they were her own. Given the Williams played VERY little junior tennis, I wouldn't use that as a measuring stick to figure anyone potentially being the "new Williams sisters."

Ana Bogdan was sitting behind us in Rod Laver arena yesterday at the Australian open. We were talking to her at change of ends during the Tsonga v Verdasco match. She made a point of telling us when we asked that she was Ana Bogdan and not the other Bogdan on the junior tour (Elena). I asked if she was related and she said they were not related only shared same surname.
