Palma is definitely one to look out for. She's probably going to be really, really good. Not to mention she is very .

I am intrigued by her, I have never heard of her and looking at her results they don't really scream that she is going to be really, really good as you put it. ;) Do you know anything else about her?

Very true, but it's just because she lacks experience playing on the pro tour but does do consistently well.

Palma never really played many junior events and in her last event, this Jan., qualified and won the event, winning 9 matches to do so.

She's one of the younger players in the top 600 and really has potential. I don't know if she'll be top 5 or anything, but she definitely has top 30 potential.

That's about all I could tell you, but you just have to trust me, Greg. :p (I hope that's the right name this time.)

I will definitely keep my eye on her. I know I just saw her name on a $10K entry list but I can't think of which one. Perhaps the one in Serbia this week? I'll have to check that...

Palma. :banana::yeah:

A good week, overall, but like Greg said, she needs to work on her concentration in second sets. That's going to prove to be a problem against players of a higher caliber. Also, I think it's time for her to progress from $10Ks and move on to $25,000 events and a few $50,000 as well. She's seventeen and only has a limited amount of experience playing against anyone in the top 300 so it's time to move up, I think.

Anyway, good job Palma, and good luck next week. :)

BTW, I found a few new pics and I'll post them later when I get a chance.

I agree. The fact that she gets to at least the SF of almost every $10K tournament she enters shows that she needs to move up to the next level. She is only going to get better by losing early in a couple of $25K tournaments and becoming adjusted to playing at a high level. Only then will she know what it takes to succeed at a higher level.

Is she playing this week? I didn't see her name on any lists.

I didn't see any either, so I think not. It's a relatively boring week in the challengers, apart from the $100K in Mexico and a couple of my favorites in the others.

To my knowledge, Palma is not playing any ITF events this week. She doesn't seem very committed to rising up the ranks. I know 17 is young, but a lot of players were in the top 20 by 17 and Palma doesn't even seem to want to play on a regular basis.

Palma is not entered in any events for this week (Sep. 1) and she withdrew from her only event (10K Budapest) that she was entered in for the week of Sep. 8. She officially withdrew last monday.

Did she get injured after winning her last title?

Signs of life! Palma is entered in $25K Lagos next week. Smart idea to head to Nigeria to play in the weaker ITF events. She can get both her ranking and her confidence up by winning a few rounds.

(6)Julia Glushko ISR) v (q)Eden D'Oliveira (RSA)
Ankita Bhambri (IND) v (q)Alexandra Riley (USA)

(q)Rebeca Neves (BRA) v Vivienne Vierin (ITA)
Chen Astrogo (ISR) v (3)Isha Lakhani (IND)

(5)Lisa Sabino (ITA) v Sanaa Bhambri (IND)

Keren Shlomo (ISR) v Prerana-Mythri Appineni (IND)
Karolina Nowak (GER) v (2)Zuzana Kucova (SVK)

I really have no idea what to expect because of her recent absence coming off of her most recent title, but the old Palma should be able to do some damage with this draw, provided she can somehow overcome Surina.

Best of luck, Palma. :)

On a positive note, this was a great comeback tourney for Palma and taking a set of Hendler is impressive. Hopefully she can continue to improve (and stay healthy) and become a formidable force in the WTA. :)

She was 7th on 04 Dec, and now she is 9th in quali.

It's interesting.

Palma has made a return, playing satellites in Croatia in the last couple of weeks. Last week she lost in the 2R and is currently in the MD of $10K Hvar:

SINGLES MAIN DRAW
(1) Florence HARING FRA vs wc Michaela FRLICKA GER
Paola CIGUI ITA vs q
wc Anja PRISLAN SLO vs Conny PERRIN SUI
(5) Karolina PLISKOVA CZE vs q
(3) Ana SAVIC CRO vs SE Annalisa BONA ITA
Simona DOBRA CZE vs q
Appollonia MELZANI BEL vs Amra SADIKOVIC SUI
(8) Valentina SULPIZIO ITA vs q
(6) Naomi BROADY GBR vs q
Ashley WEINHOLD USA vs Charlotte RODIER FRA
Pauline WONG NED vs Karolina KOSINSKA POL
(4) Noppawan LERTCHEEWAKARN THA vs Yasminn CLARKE GBR
(7) Palma KIRALYI HUN vs q
wc Antonela SUSAK CRO vs q
wc Jasmina KAJTAZOVIC SLO vs q
(2) Nika OZEGOVIC CRO vs SE Sarah GRONERT GER

She should get past her qualifier, assuming she's not placed against Babet, but I really don't see Palma beating Lertcheewakarn in her current form.

She's on a six match losing streak. :sobbing:

I think injuries really screwed her season up.
