Now that's a very nice thread :D
Those are some impressive stats from our miss Injurin:eek::hatoff: I don't see why people call her overrated:shrug: Last year she was a semifinalist or better in 6 tournaments, despite missing almost whole clay season:eek:

Nice work, Dav.:worship:

Thanks.

Yeah, if anything, she's underrated. By far, the biggest underachiever on tour today and probably since AnnaK. There's gotta be someting she can do to lessen these injuries. A 20 year old just doesn't get this much. Then again, it's almost always the ankles, well ignoring 2008.

9. Ana Ivanovic (17) 2007 Amelia Island 6-4, 3-6, 6-4

I absolutely loved those two. I was jumping around like an idiot when she won them. Especially the Schnyder match after completely killing her in the first set to nearly losing.

6. Nicole Vaidisova (11) 2006 Zurich 6-2, 6-0

Even though Nicole is a favourite of mine I loved this match. I remember I was so shocked seeing Tati hit backhand winners.

 Me too. The Ivanovic match was really underrated. The commentators wouldn't stop talking about how high quality it was compared to 2007's other matches. Drysdale was having an orgasm after every point.

Tati has made finals on all surfaces but carpet (where she's made four SF):

Grass
Birmingham 2004-RU

Clay
Amelia Island 2007-W

Hard-Outdoor
Tokyo 2005-RU
Portoroz 2007-W

Hard-Indoor
Stuttgart 2006-RU
Stuttgart 2007-RU
Zurich 2007-RU

Carpet
Paris (OGdF) 2004-SF
Paris (OGdF) 2005-SF
Paris (OGdF) 2006-SF
Antwerp 2007-SF

Not bad. :D

Have I left out anything?

Since the tour is boring while she's gone and I enjoy this, are there any other stats you all are interested in?

Dav.

One more for tonight.

Tati vs. Younger Opponents

2002
0-0

2003
0-0

2004
0-1 (Vaidisova-Tokyo-JO)

2005
0-1 (Vaidisova-Tokyo -JO) (By ret.)
1-1 (Karatantcheva-Linz)

2006
0-1 (Vaidisova-FC)
1-1 (Radwanska-US Open)
2-1 (Krajicek-Stuttgart)
3-1 (Vaidisova-Zurich)

2007
1-0 (Cornet-Paris-OGdF)
2-0 (Cibulkova-Charleston)
2-1 (Paszek-Wimbledon)
3-1 (Kutuzova-Stanford)
4-1 (Cibulkova-Toronto)
5-1 (Cirstea-Luxembourg)
6-1 (K. Bondarenko-Suttgart)

2008
0-1 (Wozniacki-Berlin)

Overall
10-5

Losses
Three times to Vaidisova (once by retirementin Tokyo, comeback from ankle injury in FC (third tournament back, second after failed comeback at RG and withdrawals from grass warm-ups)
Once to Paszek (coming back from ankle injury)
Once to Wozniacki (currently the last match she played, coming back from back injury)

So if you discount her comebacks and retirements, she's had only one healthy loss to a player younger than herself-Vaidisova in Tokyo (JO) 2004.

Injuries suck.

Dav.
Aug 17th, 2008, 05:35 PM
Not really a best result, but it shows how dangerous she is to the top players, I guess. I'll probably do comebacks next and, if my compiter lets me edit, I'm probably change the title to, "Tai's Stats Thread."

Tati's Chokes Against Top Players

Indian Wells 2004
Suarez (13) 1-6, 7-5, 6-2

US Open 2004

Zurich 2004
Ivanovic (156) 7-6, 6-7(2), 7-6(3) (Okay, so Ana wasn't a top player then, but Tati was up 5-1 in the third and had several match points. This match would end up being a key factor in the careers of both, as Ana said.)

Luxembourg 2004
Molik (14) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 (I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure Tati was up a break or two in the second or third set.)

FC 2004
Myskina (3) 6-4, 7-6(5) (Tati up 4-1 in 1st and I think had set points in second.)

Indian Wells 2005
Dementieva (5) 2-6, 6-4, 6-4

Roland Garros 2005
Bovina (14) 6-3, 7-5 (up 4-1 in second and had several set points)

Zurich 2005
Ivanovic (22) 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 (Not sure about this one. Anyone know if Tati was up in the third?)

Paris (OGdF) 2006
Mauresmo (2) 6-7(5), 7-5, 6-2 (Had a match point)

Antwerp 2006
Clijsters (1) 4-6 7-6(4) 7-5 (Served for the match)

(Dulko mega-choke after that=three consecutive weeks of major chokes.)

FC 2006
Vaidisova (12) 6-1, 3-6, 11-9 (She had so many chances in that third set.)

Stanford 2006
Schnyder (8) 7-6(4), 6-1 (She should have won the first set and I think she had set points.)

New Haven 2006
Kuznetsova (7) 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 (Up 3-0 in third and had points to serve at 4-0)

US Open 2006
Sharapova (4) 7-6(4), 7-6(0) (had two set points in first set.)

Sydney 2007
Mauresmo (3) 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-1 (I think she was up 5-4 in the second and really should have won. I remember her being just a couple of points away, as well.)

Aussie Open 2007
Peer (17) 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 (Do I even need to say anything? :o)

Antwerp 2007
Clijsters (4) 6-4, 6-3 (Not really much of a choke but she was up 4-2 in the first.)

Toronto 2007
Jankovic (3) 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 (Yeah, great comeback in the first but she was up 2-1 in the second and had chances to break there. She really could have won.)

:spit:

And I read that article about her match against loit too when I was looking for interviews. This says a bit about it in this interview here http://www.golovin-attitude.com/medias/interviews-tatiana-golovin/interviews-2004-de-tatiana-golovin/#

What about todays game, there was a bit of needle between the two of you?
I'm not sure what happened really. I was fine with it. She was arguing more with the umpire than she was against me. But you're in game mode and the emotions come out. It was very tough out there. It happens.

She seemed to complain that you took the toilet break ?
I don't understand the complaint about my toilet break. She was swearing at the umpire and got a warning. I don't know why she was so upset about that really when she called the trainer three times herself.

How hard is it to maintain your concentration when that sort of stuff is happening ?
Its part of the tennis match, you have to deal with it, to react well and stay focused.

You guys mentioned the Peer match being a big choke. I followed it on the livescore, but only the last few games of the third...what happened there?
It was easily one of the toughest losses she's ever had, if not the toughest.

Tati was up:
6-3, 2-0, 30-0 and let Peer back in with passive play.
6-3, 5-7, *5-4 and two MPs and then proceeded to play passively again.

Then Peer went on to make the QF beating Kuznetsova in the 4R, who Tati has beaten 3/4 times they've played (the time she lost she was up 3-0 in the third with a chance to serve at 4-0).

So yeah, it was pretty painful. I think it would have made a big impact on her slamn record if she had won that match. Tati has a problem with getting past the 1st..I mean..3rd round at slams and winning this match probably would have helped her confidence a lot when playing at slams.

From Paris (OGdf) when Tati beat Dementieva 6-4, 6-4 and went on to make the SF.

"Golovin, 16, advanced to her first semifinal. She beat her first top-10 player in only her 11th career WTA Tour main draw singles match. Serena Williams holds the record as quickest to defeat a top-10 player in only her third tour match.

Golovin also is the lowest-ranked player, at No. 135, to reach a Tier I or Tier II semifinal since Williams, then ranked No. 304, made it to the 1997 Chicago semifinals."

It was actually her 12th one ( I just checked because I remember another great stat): In her first full year on tour (04) In her first 7 matches she beat:

1 Top Tenner.
2 Top 20 players
2 Top 30 players.

Thats pretty great for a girl who was like ranked 354 at the time.

Also, I'm trying to remember whether or not there was an injury issue with the '05 Aussie Open.

Lol her GS results aren't that bad considering she was coming back from an injury or still injured at 99% or them.

Yeah, if you take away those they're not so bad.

And yes, she had a virus and major fatigue at the 2005 Australian Open. I thought I remembered something so if I could edit, that one would get a little star, too.

How some people can honestly believe she wouldn't be a top plsyer without injuries is beyond me. :o

Yes, she had a Zona during Sydney and the AO and her doctors let her play lol. We can see she has something on her tummy on a few Sydney pics.

She got sick in early 2006 as well. (Hence the Santangelo and Bartoli losses. :o)

Was she sick/injured when she only won 3 games against Maria?

She almost skipped the Australian, too. But for some reason chose to play anyway, despite the illness. Luckily 2008smartiana knows better. :hearts:

:haha: No, but it was soon after her 2007 injury comeback so she was far from finding her form, but had played quite a few matches since coming back so there's really not too much of an excuse for that one, especially considering how she played in Toronto a few weeks later.

Not injured or sick, but Poor Tati was in poor physical shape (lost a set to Kremer the match before) and probably mental shape after making France loose a few weekd before and being booed by this f****** Italian crowd

But I'm glad she lost, otherwise she would have had to play the FedCup final and wouldn't have won Portoroz in Marko's country :hearts:

The Slovenian crowd weren't angels themselves.

At least they were respectful, though. The Italians were just. :o Tati crying after the match was just awful.

Anyone know what her highest double fault/ace counts are?

I'd guess maybe her most aces came in a match in Stuttgart. She always seemed to serve extremely well there.

Dav.

I know she won 20 points in a row against Muller in 07

Thanks for the tip...se did hit a lot there. The most I've found in single matches are 9 aces against Srebotnik in Slovenia and 8 DFs against Osterloh. I'm sure there are lots more from 04/05/06, though.
