Tatiana Poutchek was certainly good value for her three sets victory over Alicia Molik. When she lost a point she would scream and sometimes hit herself over the head. At one stage, when a series of calls had gone against her, she implored the umpire that Molik was Australian and not English, so why the advantage?

i think shes pretty much finished in singles now. i mean if she cant win an easy match on her favourite surface in qualifying, why go on?? :shrug:

Grass isn't her favourite surface.

Neither is clay though. In fact, she sucks on all surfaces so it doesn't really matter where she plays. :o

Her ranking will plummet now as well, seeing as she reached the second round last year.

I think it may be time for Alicia to just concentrate on doubles, cos she's no longer a threat in singles unfortunately!

Losing against Puczek is as bad as losing a game against Brie... Gosh Alicia, please take a break and decide what to do next. :( This is horrible!

shes just too slow, its sad but she is slower than linds and dosen't have pin point groundies like linds to make up for it.

realy doubles is perfect for her as shes got a good serve and volly's and it requires so much less movement.

it's sad enough alicia lost, but it's even sadder that it was against poutchek.

If Molik wants to play at the highest level, she should move to doubles.

I saw a little... I was surprised how slow she was to chase a lob, and she favours her backhand enormously. I wouldn't say it was all hopeless though. Not so much finished as hardly begun- I guess she needs to train a lot more to sharpen herself up and get her shots going.

That Poutchek... her racquet cracked on a return and she examined it with surprise. Is she not capable of reflecting it had anything to do with bouncing it off the court all the bloody time? She also emitted the most absurd toddler squeal at a line call.

Alicia's needs some time off... its heartbreaking really.... that elbow injury is wreaking havoc on her game so take a couple of months off and come back fresh!
