Maria has a plan to play clay court tennis and she's sticking to it. I don't know if that's a good thing, she could be a very good grass court player. She should really be picking some points up at Wimbledon, but on this form??????

Aw damn  Not too surprising though when you see how awful Maria's record on grass is. I don't understand it, though, Maria's game should suit the grass I think

Well done to Sorana for taking her opportunitites :)

Ugh, crappy result. I think she should play the doubles to pick up a couple more matches.

Well, I'm not surprised... Bondarenko lost too to even crappier player.
Congrats Sorana, please don't fold like a cheap tent against Koryttseva. :tape:

expected. Maria had no time to train on grass.

Sorana will probably lose 1 & 0 to Koryttseva on 2nd round

Well done Sorana, nice use of your WC.

Thats proves that she is inconsistent ;)

Wins a MM tourney one day, crashes to a WTA bagel girl the next.

And Stevenson reached Wimbledon SF, does that make her a current top player? :tape:

Apart from that one SF in 2000, she didn't get to a single 3rd round at a GS, so no she isn't a top current player ;)

Tammy has reached 6 Wimbledon 4th rounds...which shows consistency and class on this surface, so yes she is a top current player on grass :wavey:

Stop pretending everyone is stupid and you are superior to them

losing to a bagel girl

Cirstea went through a bad patch--I don't know why--but she is actually quite good.

Masha is probably tired or whatever and when Sorana is on, she's very hard to beat.

Not really that much of a surprise really, Maria was playing the Barcelona final 2 days ago and Sorana did bagel Morita last week. Just not sure whats gonna happen to Maria at Wimbledon, her game should suit grass but she sucks really bad on it

Maria can't play on grass for nuts. I mean, its the only grand slam she has trouble even getting past the first round !

Its kinda weird considering maria can slice & come to the net?

Good win Sori :)

Does  look angry to you?

I'm just tired of everybody calling Sorana a bagel girl or saying she will lose with crappy scores. This only happened twice, it is not a habit so it's very premature to call her that. What are players like Brie Whitehead compared to Sorana???

Everyone will see she will not be double-bageled again any time soon.

Sorana is a good player, this isn't a bad loss at all.
Maybe Maria shouldn't have played in Spain, but another title is definitely worth it for her I'm sure.

Well, the grass at Wimbledon is definitely different, so hopefully she can get there early and get used to it, COME ON MARIA!!!!

Wonder if this loss had anything to do with the fact she's playing doubles qualifying with Pennetta tomorrow for Wimbledon

It kinda looks like they found out after her singles match. That's at least how I understood it.
With Pennetta's injury I hope they won't play, so Maria can completely focus on singles.

It isn't that easy to play on grass after winning a title on clay a couple of days earlier. Hopefully she'll do better in Wimbledon ;)

Up a break in the third against Jankovic on grass. One off performance from her on grass?

Disappointing loss, but Cirstea is always dangerous. No shame in losing to her. That top 20 ranking and title will do Maria just fine for now. Hope she wins a match or two in London.

She is inconsistent always has been. But my point was it's not easy to switch from clay to grass in 2 days with barley anytime to train on it.

And so Cirstea had some bad losses she's not a bad player by all means.

So, the defeat was good in terms.

Good Wimbledon though.

She's in my sig, and I love her, but she's pretty inconsistent. However, being double-bagelled by Aga who won the title and Vika who double-breadsticked Fran on clay after that  is OK. But it's quite painful to see her name back-to-back in the "double bagels" column in Notes and Netcords.

True, so if you love her defend her because you know she doesn't belong there. ;) See, she won her 2nd round today. No bagels :p
