Is there any deal between those two tennis associations.? the jamierbelyea Jun 15th, 2008, 05:43 PM Good choice to a former Wimbledon champion (in doubles). Very similar to Stosur I reckon. TheBoiledEgg Jun 15th, 2008, 05:43 PM What?? Is there any deal between those two tennis associations.? Wimbledon is a Private Club :wavey: Dexter Jun 15th, 2008, 05:44 PM Good choice. :yeah: Jie Zheng is a Wimbledon champion (in doubles) and a player who but for injuries would've been well inside top100. ^bibi^ Jun 15th, 2008, 05:45 PM they already gave one to a former double winner when they gave one to Black, so I guess that makes sense... It's a bit sad for Dokic though... cheo23 Jun 15th, 2008, 05:48 PM What a waste of WILD CARD!!! Chinese girls always lose before 3rd round!!! Adal Jun 15th, 2008, 05:48 PM Fair, even though I really wanted Jelena to get one Rising Sun Jun 15th, 2008, 05:52 PM Very surprised, but pleased with this decision. :) smokovec Jun 15th, 2008, 05:53 PM It's good for me. Jie wins 5 matches in Roland Garros and also plays well on grass. Rising Sun Jun 15th, 2008, 05:54 PM What a waste of WILD CARD!!! Chinese girls always lose before 3rd round!!! Li Na got to the QF in '06, though. Tzar Jun 15th, 2008, 05:55 PM Li Na got to the QF in '06, though. dont listen to cheo., LCS Jun 15th, 2008, 05:57 PM What a waste of WILD CARD!!! Chinese girls always lose before 3rd round!!! :weirdo: Shvedbarilescu Jun 15th, 2008, 06:01 PM Good choice. :yeah: Jie Zheng is a Wimbledon champion (in doubles) and a player who but for injuries would've been well inside top100. Agree. Well put. :yeah: A very good decision. :worship: cheo23 Jun 15th, 2008, 06:01 PM Li Na got to the QF in '06, though. Yes with the execption of Li Na, the other chinese girls are so WEAK. cheo23 Jun 15th, 2008, 06:03 PM Good choice. :yeah: Jie Zheng is a Wimbledon champion (in doubles) and a player who but for injuries would've been well inside top100. I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. Uranium Jun 15th, 2008, 06:05 PM :spit:what a random choice Dawson. Jun 15th, 2008, 06:06 PM omg i completely forgot about zheng jie! good choice, she is a wimbledon champion after all What a waste of WILD CARD!!! Chinese girls always lose before 3rd round!!! :smash: most wildcards lose before the 3rd round! its not specific to chinese girls. by the way, does na li ring any bells?.... -sugi- Jun 15th, 2008, 06:06 PM An excellent choice. :yeah: Dawson. Jun 15th, 2008, 06:08 PM I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. :haha: huber has not had the success of zheng in singles!!! shes a former top 30 player! and as for the american 'rising stars'... WTF?? Imperfect Angel Jun 15th, 2008, 06:09 PM Jie :yeah: Michaelz Jun 15th, 2008, 06:09 PM I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. brangle play all grand slam this year and lost always Direwolf Jun 15th, 2008, 06:10 PM goo goo zheng... good luck in singles and doubles Just Do It Jun 15th, 2008, 06:20 PM  RND Jun 15th, 2008, 06:29 PM Jie. :woohoo: mirzalover Jun 15th, 2008, 06:39 PM I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. juki Jun 15th, 2008, 06:40 PM I believe that Jie went further at the FO then anyone else not already in MD, that could easily have been a deciding factor also. the jamierbelyea Jun 15th, 2008, 06:47 PM I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. Amber would be so mortified if she knew she had a fan like you. Madi is the Queen of WC Playoffs at Oz and RG, but hasn't really used them too well. Zheng has made the 4R of a slam before also. disco_rage Jun 15th, 2008, 07:09 PM Well done Wimbledon. Fully deserved.. i'm sorry to Dokic fans, but if she really wants to come back this time.. she should do it the hard way, she has had to many wildcards in her last few attempts at a comeback. jazar Jun 15th, 2008, 07:21 PM waste xiaoyangmie Jun 15th, 2008, 07:57 PM What a waste of WILD CARD!!! Chinese girls always lose before 3rd round!!! but do all the players who get wc play into 3rd??? many of them even lose in the 1st round just like the French Open this year only 3 players:Mathilde Johansson,Samantha Stosur,Olivia Sanchez winned the 1st round, and they all lost in the 2nd round!! SARA-GOAT Jun 15th, 2008, 08:15 PM That`s great for Jie :hearts: SARA-GOAT Jun 15th, 2008, 08:45 PM I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. As "weak" as Jie is, she is probably somewhat stronger than Amber Liu and Madison Brengle  valley girl Jun 15th, 2008, 08:46 PM WRONG!! WRONG!! WRONG!! Just political  mckyle. Jun 15th, 2008, 10:08 PM She proved at Roland Garros that she shouldn't have to go through qualifying again. She made the third round and almost took a set off of Safina. Iceland Jun 15th, 2008, 10:17 PM Excellent decision. :yeah: hdfb Jun 15th, 2008, 10:59 PM I was hoping for Dokic, but this works out fine, love those chinese girls! I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. Huber is hardly a singles player! And there is no way in heck Amber or Madison would get further than Zheng could. Geez. kfh_9118 Jun 15th, 2008, 11:03 PM wow, very unexpected, but nice surprise :) Do some damage, Zheng Jie :bounce: Nicolás89 Jun 15th, 2008, 11:40 PM What a waste of WILD CARD!!! Chinese girls always lose before 3rd round!!! Li Na is chinese and got to the Wimb quarterfinals in 2006. Nicolás89 Jun 15th, 2008, 11:40 PM BTW excellent choice. :yeah: Sassy-Na Jun 15th, 2008, 11:51 PM jie reached R3 in 06 :p rada Jun 15th, 2008, 11:56 PM I wanted to see Dokic :( jbeacinu Jun 16th, 2008, 12:00 AM Jie!!!1 njnetswill Jun 16th, 2008, 12:42 AM Wimbledon is rewarding players who had good runs at RG (Suarez Navarro, Chardy etc.), so I think this is a fair choice. Very happy for Jie. tim2502 Jun 16th, 2008, 12:53 AM good choice! some people just don't like the chinese girls.. so poor~ AnomyBC Jun 16th, 2008, 12:53 AM I don't understand this at all. Does Wimbledon only care about results? Don't they take hot bodies into consideration anymore??? mckyle. Jun 16th, 2008, 01:30 AM Wimbledon is rewarding players who had good runs at RG (Suarez Navarro, Chardy etc.), so I think this is a fair choice. Very happy for Jie. Yes, those players did have success at Roland Garros, but I don't believe those are the main reasons why they chose them. Zheng - Wimbledon Women's Doubles Champion in 2006 and former Top 30 player coming back from injury Suarez Navarro - Top 50 player who missed the cut-off for the main draw; how dumb would it be to have a Top 50 player play qualifying? Chardy - Wimbledon Boy's Champion in 2005 Chunchun Jun 16th, 2008, 02:58 AM I don't understand this at all. Does Wimbledon only care about results? Don't they take hot bodies into consideration anymore??? Jie Zheng   :hotbody: Is it really that necessary for a hot body to have extremely big boobs or butts? :dokic: good choice! some people just don't like the chinese girls.. so poor~ some ppl just don't like chinese. The Kaz Jun 16th, 2008, 03:18 AM :o brunof Jun 16th, 2008, 04:19 AM I'm sorry but Huber was also a doubles champion in Wimbledon, and that doesn't mean she WILL do well in singles. But seriously, they should give it to RIsing US players like Amber Liu and Madison Brengle. Oh I totally agree. Liezel Huber should have got a singles wildcard for sure, based on her strong singles career. Amber has yet to lose a match on grass because she hasn't played one. And Madison won a total of 1 game against Kops-Jones on grass last year, so she should have been chosen over Jie Zheng for sure... mal Jun 16th, 2008, 04:22 AM Jie Zheng   :hotbody: Is it really that necessary for a hot body to have extremely big boobs or butts? :dokic: some ppl just don't like chinese. It's sad some people underestimate her and think American players should be the only ones to get wild cards. She is playing amazing! cn ireland Jul 3rd, 2008, 04:24 PM As a Dokic fan I was a little disappointed that she didn't get the last WC, however Zheng has proved she's an excellent player and totally deserved the WC:)! I hope she makes the final!!!!!!!! roastie Jul 3rd, 2008, 04:32 PM Can Jie do an "Goran Ivanisavic"? (sp?) Didn't he win Wimbledon on a Wildcard? I sure hope so, but might be wishful thinking. Why am I on that list?? I acknowledged that Zheng deserved it more based on results, but merely suggested that Dokic's hot body should have been taken into consideration---as it certainly should have been. Actually, I love both of them, so I think they should have both gotten wildcards. I mean, seriously, couldn't they have dropped one of those fat English chicks instead?
